ANALYSIS OF THE CAR AND DRIVING CLIPS
We take great pride in introducing this 1932 Custom Highboy
Roadster, meticulously crafted by Lakeman Chassis. This exceptional
vehicle stands as an American Modified Roadster (AMBR) class
champion, having secured top honors at the prestigious Grand
National Roadster Show. The entire build, from inception to
completion, spared no expense.
Boasting a full Kugel suspension, this roadster features a
Brookville all-steel body. Beneath the hood lies a robust Roush
347ci V8, equipped with GT40 Heads and paired with a C6 Automatic
Transmission. The list of high-quality components used in this
build is extensive, and while it's impossible to detail them all,
comprehensive receipts for every stage of work completed over the
years are available.
The cumulative value of this meticulous build exceeds $175,000,
accurately reflected in the car's outstanding craftsmanship and
performance.
Exterior:
A single walk around this Highboy is enough to evoke admiration for
the considerable time, creativity, and meticulous care invested in
its construction. The custom paint exhibits show-quality
brilliance, seamlessly covering the entirety of the vehicle from
front to back. Remarkably, since its application in 2008, there are
minimal blemishes present, attesting to the craftsmanship. The
lights and trim showcase perfection, with vinyl clear wrap
strategically applied to lower panels and areas prone to rock
chips, some of which exhibit minor smudging.
The custom one-off Raceline wheels are a testament to their
incredible craftsmanship, remaining in flawless condition. The
Duvall windshield, along with its trim and surrounds, is
immaculate. Panel fitment, a hallmark of high-end builds, is
consistently excellent throughout. The custom fabrication work by
Lakeman Chassis is nothing short of extraordinary, evident in
details such as the through-frame exhaust, canceled door hinges,
and custom dash work. Every element reflects the unparalleled
dedication and skill poured into this exceptional vehicle.
Interior:
The interior of this Highboy underwent a custom transformation by
Westminster, featuring tan leather that showcases remarkable
craftsmanship. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect
of the interior, exhibiting a clean and thoughtfully designed
space. Notable custom features include a power folding gear shift
panel and concealed ignition and light switches, contributing to
the overall sleek appearance.
The interior not only impresses aesthetically but also offers
comfort, especially for a '32 model. The dash cluster is pristine
and fully functional, with a concealed switch seamlessly moving the
shift cluster out of sight. Power door releases and a hidden trunk
release further enhance the user-friendly experience. A discreetly
positioned Alpine Stereo control with phone connectivity, supported
by a trunk-mounted head unit, adds a modern touch.
The Retrotek Smartshift push-button shifter with paddle shifters
are a great addition. It can be a little finicky at times but
overall it makes for a fun experience. The custom door fabrication
contributes to both easy entry and exit, ensuring a more
comfortable ride. The custom carpets, including floor mats, are in
excellent condition. The trunk interior mirrors the same design and
build quality found up front, reflecting the commitment to
excellence. This Highboy is poised to continue its success on the
show circuit.
Underbody/ Mechanical:
The meticulous attention to detail in building this showstopper is
evident, sparing no expense, as showcased in the extensive
invoices. While the sheer volume of details precludes a
comprehensive listing, the pictures eloquently narrate the story.
The custom-fabricated frame, adorned in a silver metallic powder
coat, hosts the Kugel Independent Front Suspension (IFS) and
Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) 9-inch, finished in polished
stainless steel. The frame sides are meticulously painted and edged
to match the body color, showcasing precise line work and
plumbing.
The underbody paint, in remarkable condition from front to back,
underscores the care invested in this high-caliber build. Despite a
couple of scratches on the header collectors and low-slung
components, there are no observable leaks underneath. Under the
hood resides the formidable Roush-built 347, seamlessly paired with
a Ford C6 transmission. GT40 Heads receive air and fuel from an
Edelbrock AVS2 Carb and Intake, with the original Holley Sniper
setup replaced by the Edelbrock for superior performance.
The car runs flawlessly, delivering a smooth idle, incredible
sound, and impressive power. Tires, both front and back, remain in
excellent condition. The push-button gearshift selector, while a
bit quirky, facilitates easy shifting without the need for a
traditional lever and the paddles create a fun way to grab a low
gear and burn.
In summary, this Highboy stands as a unique and incomparable
creation. The vehicle will be accompanied by a comprehensive
package, including service records, documentation, and a full
receipt history, providing a complete picture of its exceptional
journey.
