This 1974 Volkswagen Thing Acapulco Edition is one of approximately
400 examples ever produced by Volkswagen in Puebla, Mexico. The
Volkswagen Type 181, often called "The Thing," has always been a
fun summer car for drivers who like a cool and very unique driving
experience. The 181 also led to one of the more uncommon models
ever made by Volkswagen - the Acapulco Thing.
Finished in two-tone white and blue with a matching canvas roof and
seats, this "Acapulco" is an exceptional collectible VW. Disc
brakes were added for safety and drivability, suspension components
were replaced, and the 4-speed manual transmission was rebuilt in
2020. The vehicle features a modern Bluetooth stereo and upgraded
lighting. Included with the car are recent service records, an
original owner's manual, and spare keys. An oil service was
performed 5/2024 and the car runs and drives well. Freshly serviced
and ready to enjoy, this Volkswagen Thing is a worthy addition to
any collection.
