Vehicle Description
2006 Ford F250 Super Duty 4x4 Crew Cab Short Bed Pickup
The Super Duty has been produced by Ford since 1999 and was
marketed as a true heavy duty work truck. That didn't stop them
from becoming the canvas for extreme customization that essentially
takes them out of the work force and onto the show circuit. There
are entire conventions and shows focused on gussied up lifted
trucks with a large aftermarket support network and thousands of
dollars worth of customization components.
For consignment, a 2006 Ford F250 Super Duty 4x4 with enough
modifications to fill up three pages. Nearly every part of this
truck has been enhanced, improved, lifted and the engine has more
items than a Summit catalog. From exterior add ons to engine
management and suspension upgrades, this is a no expense spared
build and one that would take many years and big big money to
replicate. The DC Power High Output alternator alone was $1,000!
Some of these enhancements are visible and obvious, while many
others, from the Hypertech speedometer calibration, H/O wire kit,
fuel regulator kit, and internal engine work are not. The sheet
metal and interior are factory, but everything else, from stem to
stern, has been massaged in some way. Here's a rolling clinic on
lifted truck modifications and if a part could be upgraded, it
was!
Exterior
Basic Black here and if we just look at the body of the truck as a
stand alone item, there's nothing unusual about it. No wild paint
job, no added graphics. The panels are straight, and the paint is
very nice but not without some color mismatch on the passenger's
front and driver's rear door. It has AMP power steps to help get
you to the cab, new OEM roof lights to make your presence known at
night, and a cowl hood. Custom designed 20-inch Weld Forged
Slingblade wheels carry 38x15.5R20LT Toyo Open Country tires with a
mid-2020 date code. A big MRBP chrome exhaust tip is the visible
end of a 5-inch turbo back system. A ReTraxPRO MX hard tonneau
covers a bed that's been sprayed with bed liner and connects to a
McGard tailgate lock. Flaws included some peeling clear coat,
cracks in paint, scratches, and scuffs.
Interior
Standard Ford fare on the door panels consist of molded gray
plastic, familiar buttons, and safety lights. Black leather bucket
seats provide a nice perch from on high and the driver has a myriad
of seat controls on the plastic shell below. The back bench is
roomy enough for your crew and retains the black leather treatment.
The standard steering wheel shows some wear and our eyes are drawn
to the A-pillar where four gauges are installed; fuel pressure, a
pyrometer, boost gauge and transmission temp gauge. The standard
gauge pod in front of the driver and the center stack has range
selector switches, auxiliary light switches, a Pioneer AVIC 8000
unit with AM/FM/CD, and of course, the heater/AC controls. The low
pile black carpet is in good condition, the headliner is intact,
and we note the rear view mirror is delaminating and just behind it
we note a crack in the windshield
Drivetrain
Grab yourself a cold one cuz havewe've got a list for you. The
truck comes with a 6.0 liter Powerstroke Diesel V8, of course, but
the following has been added, replaced, or deleted: Powerstroke
Specialty Bulletproof kit, EGR delete, Xtreme Diesel EGR delete
Cover, Sinister Diesel cold air intake, billet thermostat housing,
silicone elbows, intercooler charge pipe kit, and intake elbow. A
Garrett turbo, Mishimoto aluminum radiator, Edge Griffin programmer
with PHP custom tunes, PHP FICM tuner, Blue Spring upgrade fuel
regulator kit, NEW water pump, OEM Ford oil cooler, thermostat,
coolant Cap, degas bottle, Ford Motorcraft glow plugs, and
Motorcraft injectors. Truck also has a carbon fiber intake elbow,
Sinister Diesel oil bypass filtration system and coolant filtration
kit along with coolant bypass lines into back of heads, DC Power
270XP high output alternator, H/O wire kit, a Sinister Diesel
leveling kit, diesel billet oil filter cap, and diesel billet fuel
filter cap. The heads have O-ringed BiggDogg heads, bronze valve
guides, and ARP head studs. But wait, there's more! The fuel
injection is enhanced with the O Dawg diesel ported intake and the
five-speed automatic transmission is a rebuilt F5R100 with a Mag
HyTec transmission pan. The 4.56 gears at both axles include Eaton
Detroit TrueTrac units and Mag HyTec differential covers. Power
disc brakes on all fours include Powerstop Z36 HD pads and
rotors.
Undercarriage
No need to utilize our four postlift here. The suspension is the
star of the show and includes the following modifications. A front
PMF Long Arm 4 link, PMF HD coil buckets, (custom powder coated),
PMF Stage 2 gusseted traction bars, a PMF rear spring conversion
kit, rear Deaver leaf springs, PMF dual steering stabilizer kit
With KING Shocks, KING 2.5 coilovers, (2.5x10" custom valved for
Ford Super Duty), KING 2.5 Piggyback rear, KING 2.0 steering
stabilizer shocks, PMF coilover conversion mount system, lift
blocks and U-bolts. A MBRP 5" turbo back exhaust system sends spent
gas directly to the big tip in the back. It's clean underneath with
occasional spots of surface rust. It is not chromed out like show
trucks so it's feasible you could drive this truck without worrying
about mud and water sullying the undercarriage.
Drive-Ability
Remember when Lily Tomlin would sit in a giant chair and look like
a kid? Yeah, I don't care how big you are, this truck will make you
feel small, and that's part of its appeal. The big diesel and all
its accoutrements start with a roar and we roll out onto the tarmac
being vigilant about the wide wheels and monster height. All of
those parts and mods result in a great running truck with big power
and surefooted suspension. Our track is flat but not without the
occasional imperfection and pothole, but this truck glides over
undulations without a care. All the lights, gauges, and other
functions work as intended save for the passenger's power lock.
Big boys drive big toys and this truck has been treated to a no
expense spared list of ride and engine enhancing components. It's
like a showcase for the aftermarket and is a spectacular version of
a lifted truck that can be driven to work just as readily as it can
hit the show circuit. Make the call and let's roll some coal!
