This custom Jet Black 1929 Ford Model A roadster is equipped with a strengthened 1932 frame and all-steel Brookville body. Passenger comfort is heightened by a frame stretch and forward placement of the firewall, yielding extra legroom. The steel 1932 vintage front fenders are lengthened, and the running boards and rear fenders are unaltered 1929 items. Under the Rootlieb hood resides a 5.7-liter LT4 GM V8 engine from “Street and Performance” in Mena , Arkansas with a custom-chipped 1996 Corvette computer module and dual exhaust, including Sanderson headers and quad Bassani mufflers. Electronic controlled exhaust cut outs give extra sound when needed. A variable-speed SPAL 16-inch fan and upgraded custom aluminum radiator ensure cool running of the potent LT4 powerplant. The custom-engineered fuel system was designed with a baffled fuel tank custom-fabricated by Chris Thompson of Hjeltness Restoration in San Diego, CA, plus a constant-speed, full-flow submerged fuel pump and Audi TT filler with proper overflow and splash drains. The engine and wiring are fully enclosed for a clean look. A GM 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission provides cruising ease and sends power to a custom fully independent 9-inch Ford rear axle setup equipped with 3.83:1 gears, limited-slip, a vintage-style quick-change housing and Spicer 1350-Series U-joints. Other mechanical highlights include a CNC dual-circuit brake system, including front and rear bias adjustment and front discs with Jaguar-style inboard discs to the rear. The steering column position and pedal placement are set up to mimic the ergonomics of a 1996 Mercedes-Benz steering geometry and are specifically calibrated for excellent handling and a pleasurable drive with custom-fabricated front A-arms and rack & pinion steering gear. The Model A’s Connolly leather upholstery and custom removable soft-top are the work of Ocean Beach Upholstery in San Diego, CA. Other highlights include billet license-plate frames, custom nerf bars and Bosch headlamps.
The car is Show Quality, excellent paint and body with massaged gaps fully sanded and buffed for a mirror finish. Runs and drives as good as it looks.
