Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is excited to present to you this slick black 1979
Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta! This one-family owned Camaro was
purchased new in 1979 by the parents of the gentleman who brought
it to us. It was originally a Texas car dressed in blue with a 305
V-8 under the hood. He bought the Camaro from his mother in 2011
and in 2016 he spent $65K having it turned into the cool ride that
sits before us today. Since the restoration, this car has seen
little use and that is that's why the son decided (with the
blessing of his mother) to allow the car to move on to a new
caretaker. We have the lengthy invoice for the work done in 2016
which included a paint job, a GM crate 350 motor, balancer, water
pump, new brake and fuel lines, poly-bushings, ball joints, shocks,
front calipers, front and rear bumper covers, seat belts and
retractors, wheels, tires, weatherstrips, all glass, a 3-row
aluminum radiator, brake master cylinder, a remanufactured
transmission, headliner, carpet, and recovered seats and door
panels! The black paint looks really slick on the curving body
lines of this Camaro, but it does have some imperfections from use
that put in good driver condition. This Camaro features the very
cool 2nd gen front end with a pointed nose separating the grey
eggcrate grill and flanked by round headlights set deep in bright
bezels. Body-color side mirrors grace both sides of the car. Chrome
accents really pop against all the black paint with bright window
trim, door hadles, and "Berlinetta" script badges. Adding to the
brilliant chrome is a set of 5-spoke Riddler wheels wrapped in
Sumitomo tires that look like new. At the rear of the car you'll
find the iconic 3-piece rear spoiler, dual exhaust, a centered gas
fill door, and crystal clear tail lights.
Under the hood is an exceptionally clean and well presented engine
bay that is now home to a black 350ci V-8. This small-block is
topped off with chrome "Chevrolet" logo valve covers, an Edelbrock
intake, a 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, and a chrome air cleaner.
Other highlights under the hood include a Champion aluminum
radiator, power steering, and a working A/C system (originally an
A/C car!). The V-8 is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission
that shifts seamlessly. Braking power comes from power front discs
and rear drums with a new booster, dual reservoir, and lines.
You'll certainly feel proud to pop this hood at any carshow!
Open the drivers door to reveal a very nicely redone black and red
interior that's sure to catch everone's eye. Both door panels have
been recovered in black vinyl with red inserts and the drivers door
offers a toggle control for the side mirror. New black carpet
covers the floors and carpeted Camaro logo floormats are included
to keep it looking nice. All 4 seats have been recovered in black
vinyl with red inserts and they look and feel exceptionally nice. A
factory center console separates the front buckets and offers an
armrest/storage box, a shifer for the automatic transmission, and a
small storage slot. The crack-free black dash is home to working
factory gauges for fuel, battery, and temperature as well as a
speedometer, tachometer, and clock. To the left of the driver are
climate controls that offer cold A/C and hot heat with a working
fan. Also to the left are controls for the working intermittent
wipers. In the center of the dash is a Retrosound-style AM/FM
stereo that plays through speakers in the front kick panels as well
as a set of 6X9's in the rear package tray. There is an empty
glovebox located ahead of the passenger seat. Close at hand for the
driver is a 4-spoke black OEM steering wheel with a "Berlinetta"
logo at its center. The wheel is mounted on a tilt column with a
stalk that operates the blinkers and cruise control (we have not
tested the cruise control to see if it works). Overhead is a nice
tight black headliner with a non-working dome light. Back in the
trunk is a factory-style jack, but no spare tire. Included with
this Camaro are 3 original build sheets - 2 partial and 1 complete,
an original owners manual, warranty book, and maintenance schedule
- very cool extras!
