Vehicle Description
2011 Ford Mustang GT/CS
"After a one-year hiatus, a Mustang GT "California Special"
package, nicknamed the GT/CS, returned for the 2011 model year -
revamped to enhance the body redesign that Mustang underwent for
2010. Again paying homage to the limited edition Mustang of the
same name from 1968, this latest GT/CS combined classic "Shelby"
style with modern engineering and performance. Based on the Mustang
GT Premium, the 2011 GT/CS boasts Ford's brand new 5.0 liter DOHC
V-8 that produces 412 horsepower.". Thx to Performance.Ford.com
For consignment, one of the late model versions of the special
edition, a 2011 Ford Mustang GT/CS. A 3 owner car with a title
verified 9,519 actual miles, a Coyote V8, and unique features that
make the California Special one of the most popular special edition
Mustangs ever produced.
Exterior
Two stage Black paint is augmented by the unique GT/CS stripes,
this time also in black, creating a stealthy "ghost" effect. This
is one of 804 in black for 2011 and has the revised fascia and
grille. A California Special imprinted faux gas cap is another
field mark of this rare bird while the diffuser style rear valance
is sculpted to fit twin exhaust tips. A four post wing rises above
the decklid and is upturned to create downforce. Argent painted
19-inch wheels, another CS standard, are wrapped in 245/45/19 tires
with a mid-2023 date code. Overall, the exterior is in like new
condition with no notable flaws making our list of demerits.
Interior
Charcoal and black plastic molded door panels are simple,
practical, and clean. The leather bucket seats have sporty
bolstering and GT/CS embossed on the seat back. The 2+2 rear seats
have the same pattern and headrests which fold down for driver
visibility. Cruise control and radio switches are found on the
cross spokes of the hefty, leather wrapped steering wheel. Purple
hues illuminate the gauges which show RPMs and speed, while
electronic screens fill the bottom of the circles with additional
information. Clean and modern describes the center stack where the
buttons and knobs are integrated. The automatic shifter is robust
and easily reachable in the center console. Low pile black carpet
is protected by matching mats and as with the charcoal headliner,
is in excellent condition. And while we're talking about condition,
let us summarize by saying the interior is in "as new" condition,
remarkably clean and essentially showroom fresh.
Drivetrain
The venerable Ford 5.0 liter Coyote V8 lurks below and is rated at
412 horsepower. The electronic fuel injected pony goes through the
gears via a 6R80 6-speed automatic transmission sending galloping
revolutions back to the Ford 8.8 in rear with 3.15 TracLoc gears.
Naturally, power disc brakes are on all four feet of this
thoroughbred. Visually, the engine bay, as expected, is
spotless.
Undercarriage
All original underneath and normal surface rust can be found
coating the panhard brackets, the rear axle, and the driveshaft.
The dual exhaust flows into the original equipment mufflers and
then blast out the back. MacPherson struts equip the front
independent suspension while a 3 link with coil springs and panhard
bar lives in the back.
Drive-Ability
There's nothing quite like dual exhaust and a Coyote five liter to
make some noise! This car is understated in so many ways. The
stealthy exterior, the practical low key interior, the lack of
flash. But turn the key and it's music to this car guy's ears.
Around the loop we go with the orchestra playing in back.
Obviously, great acceleration, tracking, and braking. As this is
barely broken in, all functions work as they should and it's a nice
place to be. But we have to get back to our cubicle and write this
up!
Again from Ford Performance: "Between 1965 and 2021, Ford created
seven of the most popular Mustang editions: GT, Cobra, Shelby,
Boss, Mach 1, Bullitt, and the California Special.". There's a
reason this car ranks with others on the list. It's special and
here's an opportunity to get into a practically new example from
2011. Surf's up, dude, time to catch this wave!
