For Sale: 1941 Ford 1-1/2 Ton Pickup in Janesville, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

This is a 1941 1 1/2 ton X50 stake truck. Flathead V-8 with original tires.  History: The dash plate shows the manufacturer was Maxim Motor Company in Middleborough, Massachusetts which built fire engines for the US Army. In 83 years this commercial truck has only accumulated 4300 miles. My Father who has restored many tractors, gas engines, and other items over the years, restored this truck after acquiring it from a farmer's barn in Kentucky about 25 years ago.  My Dad was a master mechanic with a passion for restoring old treasures and he was delighted to know when he checked the transmission and engine, it was still within factory specs!  POWERTRAIN: Under the hood is the 59A-B version of Ford's historic flathead V-8 engine, which displays 239 cubic inches. It starts easily, no smoke and runs really well. It has been stored inside every since it was restored and most of it's life by the shape it was in when he acquired it.  There is a modern alternator in place of the original generator. There was a conversion to a 12-volt electrical system. Backing the Flathead is a four-speed manual transmission that shifts well. EXTERIOR: At the rear the original pumper body was removed and a custom stake bed was created, featuring a steel frame and an oak floor. There is no known rust on the body however there are a few blemishes, scratches and minor cracks on the paint but the overall finish is very good. All the glass is in good condition, no scratches or cracks. Seals are also in very good shape and replaced during restoration. All of the exterior lighting is functional.  INTERIOR: The steel elements are painted the same color as the exterior, while the bench seat door panels, roof and rear cab wall are trimmed in black vinyl. There is a split in the driver side upper seat, but the rest of the upholstery is in very good condition, with minimal visible wear. The gauges and heater work and there is a custom fuel tank on the driver's side of truck.

Me and my husband inherited this truck a few years back when by Father passed and moved it to a storage facility in Wisconsin, where we live. We have kept it on a  trickle charge and we start it occasionally and it always starts right up. We have a clean title on this truck and we had it appraised when we first acquired it.  The appraisal was 45,000, however we realize we must sell it for a lot less. Just shows that this is a very valuable antique with a great history behind it.
