Mechanical This Corvette just exudes originality and Corvette small
block performance from the minute you open the hood and see the
very original and Numbers Matching 327-300 horse engine with a
4-speed transmission. This engine gives quick around-town
performance and cruises at highway speeds at no more than an easy
loaf. Those 327€s back then had new cylinder heads with bigger
inlet valves, used hydraulic valve lifters, wedge-type combustion
chambers, long-life rams head cast iron exhaust manifolds, dual
exhaust system, and a 4-barrel carb. Ours has the chrome open air
cleaner, orange painted factory valve covers, orange painted block,
chrome distributor shielding, H.D. radiator, and backed by a Muncie
4-speed and a nice chassis with all the great parts while riding on
steel wheels with the correct Hub Caps and white wall tires, Side
pipes, and was completely Restored 10 years ago. Interior This
Sting Ray offers a completely luxurious driving environment. For
1965, the interior features new trim of durable expanded vinyl with
a more subtle texture of black and has individual twin bucket-type
seats that have a factory bolster-like design for more seating
comfort and better lateral support. The black theme extends to the
black carpet and matching door panels, dual sun visors, controls
for the heater and defroster located on the central console along
with chrome 4-speed shifter and the electrical clock and radio
controls and vent controls that are located under the instrument
panel on each side of the steering column. In the dash is a matched
speedometer and tachometer are the primary instruments in the Sting
Ray with a re-settable trip odometer, head-light switch, radio,
head-lamp retractor switch, hood release, and four-position
ignition switch to complete the instrument panel with the great
wood steering wheel also. Exterior The styling changes on our 1965
Sting Ray are beautiful and ours is restored and re-painted with
its bright red paint job flowing over the hood and louvers behind
the front wheels that help increase air flow through the engine
compartment, giving it both an aggressive and sophisticated look.
All the emblems, the bumpers and taillights, door handles, the
flip-up gas cap, and the white convertible top remain in great
condition as well as the correct Hub Caps with white wall tires
which give it a great ride with superior handling. Conclusion More
than ever previously, the 1965 restored and numbers matching engine
in our red Corvette Roadster we have here at Skyway Classics, is
luxurious transportation for two, backed by the 327 cubic inch
engine that will give you a sporty and pleasant driving experience.
