Vehicle Description
1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst/Olds Pace Car Convertible Why This
Car Is Special In 1972, Hurst Performance was called upon to
provide the official pace car for the Indy 500, and as a result,
joined forces with Oldsmobile to create a limited-run version, the
Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds Pace Car Edition. These special vehicles
marked the first time an automotive supplier's name was included in
a Pace Car's official title, and the only time an Indy Pace Car was
sponsored by anything other than a mainstream automaker. This
particular example of a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst Olds Pace Car
we have here at Skyway Classics was 1 of 54 track-used Indy 500
pace cars, was also a Goodyear Giveaway Car, and it was used to
produce the Revell plastic model kit and 1:18 ExactDetail/GMP die
cast scale model. It has a unique Track Car Hurst dash plaque still
affixed, was autographed by Linda Vaughn, has the original
drivetrain consisting of the 455 cubic inch V-8 engine and
automatic transmission with Hurst Dual Gate shifter. It has had one
repaint in correct color combination with the original interior and
was even featured on the cover of Automania Gazette & Review
magazine in 2011. Features 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst Olds Pace
