Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1960 Nash Metropolitan
for purchase. The British Nash Motor Company noticed that post-WWII
American automotive producers were all under the spell of "bigger
is better". Nash sought to develop an economical and smaller
alternative that really didn't exist in North America. With help
from Detroit based independent designer, William Flajole, and some
styling help from Pinin Farina Nash created and exported the
Metropolitan. It was marketed as a simple 2nd car for the family
when needed. It's known for its size of course, but also as being
the first car that was marketed to women. In a time where this car
just may appear as tiny for being tiny, the reviews came back
overwhelmingly positive on the styling and performance leaving a
lasting legacy in the classic car market today.
This gorgeous Nash Metropolitan was restored and presents very
well. The peppy 55HP, 1500cc engine runs as it should and is mated
to a manual 3 speed on the floor transmission. The Nash rides on
whitewall tires. The times have changed and although we like to
think bigger is better at times, this car is a love at first sight
and it only gets better when behind the wheel of this cool little
ride!
