Six months following the release of the Bentley S-Type/Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, Bentley introduced a chassis-only high-performance variant as a successor to the R-Type Continentals. While the standard S1 was largely identical to the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, the Continental variants were all coach-built at a premium of approximately fifty percent over the standard cars. As such, only 431 S1 Continentals were produced in comparison to 3,107 'standard' cars.

Of these, some of the most beautiful were undoubtedly produced by H.J. Mulliner. Design No. 7443, the 'Flying Spur', was a four-door sedan designed to offer the sporty looks of the Continental coupes with the four-passenger comfort of a sedan. Only 54 vehicles were produced in the 'Six Light' style, with a further 16 built with differing window treatments. As with all S1s, a 4.9L Inline-6 and a four-speed automatic transmission provided the car with exceptional performance. Today, these rare vehicles attract plenty of attention and offer a unique driving experience essentially unmatched by other cars of its era.

The superb 1958 Bentley S1 Continental 'Flying Spur' Sports Saloon featured here is finished in classic British Racing Green over Black Connolly leather surrounded by stylish Burl Walnut woodwork throughout. This motorcar is one of the 54 'Six Light' variants produced, of which only 16 are believed to have been built in left-hand-drive. This particular vehicle was purchased by the renowned actor and producer, Richard Anderson, in the 1970s and used by him through the rest of his life. It was noted by his daughter to have been long a dream of his to acquire one - once he had, the car quickly became a common sight in the Beverly Hills area. We are proud to offer this stunning Bentley to the most sophisticated collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this limited production, hand-built Bentley Continental, offered at an investment price!

About Richard Anderson:
After serving in the Army during World War II, Anderson started his acting career as a contract player at MGM. He appeared in 84 films, including "Forbidden Planet" (Fred M. Wilcox, director), "Paths of Glory" (Stanley Kubrick, director), "The Long, Hot Summer" (Martin Ritt, director), "Escape from Fort Bravo" (John Sturges, director), "Give a Girl a Break" (Stanley Donen, director), "Seven Days in May" (John Frankenheimer, director), and "Compulsion" (Richard Fleischer, director). Throughout his career, he performed alongside Hollywood legends such as Bette Davis, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Kirk Douglas, Jack Lemmon, Debbie Reynolds, Paul Newman, Orson Welles, Natalie Wood, Ava Gardner, Gene Hackman, and even Ice Cube.

In addition to his wide-ranging cinematic works, Anderson also appeared in 104 television series. Some of his major roles include: "Gunsmoke", "Hawaii Five-O", "Dynasty", "Dan August", "Perry Mason", "The Fugitive", "Charlie's Angels", "The A-Team", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Bonanza", "Ironside", "Daniel Boone", and "Murder, She Wrote". Perhaps his most famous role, however, came to him in 1974, when was cast in the role of Oscar Goldman, Director of the Office of Scientific Intelligence in the second episode of "The Six Million Dollar Man". He continued to play that role through that series, its spinoff, "The Bionic Woman", and three made-for-television movies through 1994.
