Date of delivery March 25, 1965 Wiesbaden, Germany. The vehicle was delivered to Germany and equipped with specifications for the USA. Which included laminated front window and speedometer in Miles Per Hour (MPH), rather than Kilometers PH. The vehicle was shipped to the United States and made his home in Charleston, South Carolina (SC) anywhere between mid to late 1960’s. A family from Mount Pleasant, SC kept this car for close to 40 years, according to the information provided it was always garage kept. In July 2, 2014 because of the owner’s health issues the vehicle was sold to a friend of mine. In October of 2020 I purchased the vehicle from him. This vehicle has all matching serial numbers with Certificate of Authenticity number 115656718 dated January 19, 2021 from the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg Germany and Certificate of Collectability from American Collectors Insurance.
Known maintenance history since 2014 include: engine rebuilt in 2015, vehicle painted in 2016, front brakes updated to CSP Disc Brakes in 2016, new tires installed in 2016, complete leatherette upholstery to include German weave carpet done to factory specifications in 2021 by renown vehicle interior expert Lumen Cruz, the paint was touched up in 2023 by Cano Restoration in Orlando, Florida, the rear brakes replaced in 2023, and suspension was replaced in 2020, complete electrical system replaced to 12 volts, exhaust upgraded, flywheel replaced for 12 Volts Starter, and radio replaced with Retro radio with AM/FM and Bluetooth, SOLEX carburetor completely rebuilt in April 2023 by Volkzbitz (Yelm Washington state) and Fuel Pump replaced with OEM pump from Sparx Werks LLC, and clutch assembly replaced in 2022, transmission overhauled in 2023 by Cano Restoration, and undercarriage completely refurbished in 2023. All parts and component selectively replaced to time period correct. Air Cooled Haus in Longwood, Florida conducted most of the maintenance in this vehicle for the last three years, until April of 2023. The vehicle nickname is Casper. Vehicle factory equipped for USA (Code 350) and Hinged Rear Windows (Code M093). Another unique feature of this De Luxe VW Sedan is the ignition switch on the steering column.
