Vehicle Description
1933 Chevrolet CA Master Sedan
Overall the thirties and early forties were good and innovative
years for the Chevrolet marque. In 1933 Chevy introduced two
classes of car, the Master Eagle for the upscale market and the
mid-year arrival Mercury for the budget conscious. Styling was more
streamlined on the Eagle, bumpers were standard, and Starterators
were included. Starterators connected the accelerator to the
starter motor, enabling a driver to restart an accidentally stalled
engine with the tap of a foot. 450,000 Eagles were produced during
the 1933 year and customers began referring to the Eagle as the
Master. The name change stuck.
For consignment, this nice Chevrolet CA Eagle, (Master). This
4-door early 1930's design with an extra-long body and rear window,
canvas top, and cowled hood, running boards and early design is
truly a gangster car. Inline 6 cylinder power and a 3-speed manual
enable it to outrun most police of the time, unless they had a ford
V8! Black paint for the body, fenders and running boards, it's got
a nice patina, and yellow contrasting painted steel spoked
wheels.

Exterior
With a lazy V shaped vertical ribbed grille leading the way a
single flanking circular headlight is on either side leads to a
patinaed simple curved bumper is below and some round fog lighting
is attached to the top of this bumper. A horn is on the drivers
side so get outta my way! Nicely shaped curved fenders are on
either side of the long cowled hood and these frame yellow painted
19-inch wire wheels wrapped in 5.25/5.50-19 rubber. nThe lower back
portion of the fenders are pontoon esque, and melt into a running
board which frames the lowers for the 4 doors, 2 on either side
that share a common B pillar in the center. A smaller protruding
rear fender curves around and accentuates the rear of the passenger
cabin which sports an extra rear window on either side. The roof is
not covered in this car with just exposed lath awaiting the vinyl
covering. Paint is black and shows some pitting, chips offs that
have become rusted, and some cracking and crazing that have left
any unpainted areas rusted. On the back of this gangster looking
car is a large steel trunk with chromed faux belts mounting it and
a dual clasp to keep it secure. The far reaches of the rear have a
continental bumper with a bump out central curve in it to house the
rear mounted spare. The early sign of the continental bumper if you
will!
Interior
A swing of any door and we can see original mohair covering for the
panels. This is in fair condition with some fading, partial dry rot
on the bottoms, and a stitched inset panel both actuator and crank.
Onto the front bench, where it is showing in buttoned tufted and
overstuffed style and more mohair, however in poor condition, with
tearing and stuffing wearing through the mohair. In back is a
version of the front, but in better condition and slightly less
worn, however still showing some wear off of the "hair". The sides
of the interior are also covered in mohair, which is showing wear
and fading. The headliner, also mohair, is showing in torn and
tattered condition. Upfront behind the large bakelite steering
wheel is a nifty dual eyebrow wood embellished black metal dash. It
has a neato central squashed oval panel for the instruments. This
panel has horizontal ribs and black faced gauges with white numbers
and pointers. It is inoverall good condition. Black rubber flooring
is in and some rusting is underneath.
Drivetrain
Under the central hinged cowled hood is a 206.8 ci Inline 6
cylinder. It has a 1-barrel carburetor on top, and a 3-speed manual
transmission on back. A 4.11 rear axle is mounted in the wayyyy
back. Plenty of patina for this engine and bay with light surface
rust throughout.
Undercarriage
Very light surface rust for the floor pans, and some road dirt and
patina for the running boards and hangers. No invasive rust is
noted. Leaf springs provide the ride on all 4 corners and
mechanical drum brakes are all around.
A barn find with some paint work needed on the exterior, and
interior redux for the upholstered surfaces mainly due to no vinyl
top installed which allowed water damage to occur. Its all there
but just needs some love!
