new. A bright waterfall grille and bumper trim add to the front-end
appeal. The sides of this Mercury are accented by black pinstripes,
body side molding, bright window and door handle trim, and dual
body-color side mirrors. It sits atop factory-machined aluminum
wheels wrapped in Michelin Defender tires. The overall exterior
look is that of an elegant 4-door luxury sedan that's been
garage-kept its whole life.
Under the hood of this Mercury is an incredibly clean and stock
engine bay that is home to a potent 4.6 liter V-8 that was
factory-rated at 224hp when new. This strong running V-8 is mated
to a 4R75E 4-speed automatic transmission - a perfect drivetrain
combo. Stopping power is provided by 4-wheel power disc brakes with
ABS. Ride quality is as smooth as can be with the rear air
suspension and sway bar that came with the Ultimate Edition
package.
To unlock the driver's door there are 3 options - use one of the 2
key fobs, use a key, or use the touch-pad combination lock system.
The door swings open to reveal an opulent interior full of all of
the creature comforts you'd expect from such a premium vehicle. The
interior is largely dressed in light beige with beautiful burled
woodgrain accents. The cleanliness and lack of any real signs of
wear are a testament to the incredibly low mileage. The driver's
door offers controls for power windows, power locks, power mirrors,
and the power driver's seat (the passenger seat is also power
adjustable). The seats are wrapped in high-quality leather that is
still in spectacular condition and both seats offer power lumbar
support as well as individual fold-down armrests. The rear seats
look like they've never been sat in and both front and rear have
seatbelts for 3 passengers. The crack-free grey dash is home to an
easy-to-use climate control system that offers cold A/C, hot heat,
a strong fan, and rear defrost. The factory stereo sounds terrific
and offers the ability to play both CD's and cassettes. The factory
gauges all work as they should and include both an analog and
digital speedometer as well as a tachometer. There are buttons on
the dash that control the traction control as well as the
power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals (a very cool
feature!). The driver is treated to a leather-wrapped steering
wheel accented with a burled wood section at the top. The steering
wheel has quick-touch controls for the stereo, the temperature, and
cruise control. To the right is a column-shifter for the automatic
transmission and to the left is a stalk for the intermittent
wipers. Both the steering wheel and the passenger side dash are
equipped with airbags for safety. Overhead you'll find map lights,
controls for 3 universal garage door openers, dual lighted vanity
mirrors, and a tight felt headliner. Underfoot is very nice beige
factory carpeting kept nice with carpeted floormats. The spacious
carpeted trunk is home to a full-size spare tire. As an unexpected
extra, this Grand Marquis comes with its original owner's manuals
as well as the original buyer's order for the car - showing that it
was more than $32K when it was purchased new back in 06!
