Ill get to the important stuff first. Because I do not have
paperwork from day one, I can not 100% verify this Camaro, however,
based on all the information I have, this is believed to be a #'s
matching car. First off, the trim tag indicates that this car is a
Van Nuys built car and a early one at that based on the VIN#. This
would also indicate that "X33" would not be stamped on the trim
tag, which it is not. That also means that the early cars would not
have a cowl hood. This one does have its original low hood as well
as the cowl hood that you see on the car now. The only other
non-original items are believed to be the distributor, which the
original does come with the car and the hide-away headlamps have
been converted to electric but all the vacuum canisters and hoses
also come with the car. This vehicle has a chambered exhaust, which
the early cars came with. The rear roll pan under the rear bumper
is correct for an RS as are the electrical connectors for the tail
lights. The original Protect-O-Plate indicates that the car was
delivered first to a buyer in Costa Mesa, CA. All other number
found also indicates that this was an early car including the
original seat belts stamped 1968. Some of the numbers are as
follows, Engine:19L507737 V1024DZ, Transmission: 19L507737 (top of
transmission housing), Rear Axle: BU 11001G1 F. Transmission date
P9R16, Engine block #386 and Heads #186, Casting # is J198, Brake
booster dated 304th day of 1968. The cowl tag verifies that this is
a 72 Hugger Orange car with 712 Black Custom interior, which I
believe to be mostly original. This is also a power steering and
power brake car. This car has been restored and is in excellent
condition both mechanically and cosmetically. This Z28 fires right
up with a beautiful sound of solid lifters humming through that
chambered exhaust is exhilarating. It goes down the road strait and
true with no known issues. This is definitely one to consider if
you are in the market. We encourage any questions and welcome any
type of inspection or more pictures upon your request.
