The 1972 model was the last year that the Corvette featured chrome
bumpers front and rear, marking an end to an era. This 1972
Corvette was also the last year with removable rear window for a
total open air driving experience, while still maintaining the
security of the T-top roof structure. This cool Corvette is
finished in its original color of Steel Cities Gray (code 988 as
indicated on trim tag), and features an aggressive looking
L88-style hood that lets everyone know there is a Big Block engine
present. Adding to the tough look of this classic Stingray are a
set of rumbling side exhaust pipes with factory-style chrome side
covers that enhance the sound of the engine - music to any car
enthusiasts' ears. The finishing touch to the exterior are the
factory 15-inch rally wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A
white lettered tires staggered 245/60R15 front and 255/60R15 rear
for just the right stance.
Inside, the Black interior looks great and features a large factory
tachometer and speedometer, as well as the classic Corvette center
gauge cluster displaying water temperature, oil pressure, voltage,
fuel and clock. Additional features include tilt steering column,
attractively upgraded steering wheel and an Alpine stereo with
upgraded speakers. The factory T-top removable roof panels add to
warm weather cruising enjoyment.
Under the voluptuous L88 hood is a healthy 454 cubic inch Big Block
engine mated to a TH400 automatic transmission. The tidy engine
compartment features an aluminum radiator with electric fan, power
steering, chrome alternator, Mallory Comp S/S distributor and coil,
polished valve covers, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake,
dual feed carburetor, chrome open-element air cleaner and power
four-wheel disc brakes.
