Considered by many to be the Shelby of Broncos! The Stroppe Baja
Edition Bronco was a limited edition with personal touches by Baja
legend Bill Stroppe. There was only an estimated 500 Stroppe Baja
Broncos converted and this tribute is spot on to the originals. It
has recently received a fresh and meticulous nut and bolt frame off
restoration and it's absolutely beautiful! Currently showing just 9
miles on the odometer since restoration! Aside from the Baja
package it has very desirable factory features: 302 V-8, automatic
trans and power steering. Documented with a Marti Report.
EXTERIOR: What an absolute looker! You'll be turning heads
everywhere you drive with the tri-color paint scheme that matches
the Baja 500 and 1000 winning Stroppe-built off-road racing
vehicles. What a stunning combination of Acapulco Blue, Wimbledon
White, and Poppy red (actually looks orange) that has been wet
sanded and polished to a very smooth and reflective finish. The
satin black hood was also on the original race trucks and helped to
reduce sun glare while in the desert. It's an "uncut" body meaning
it does not have added wheel well flares. All the panels line up
very nicely and consistently with good gaps. The doors open and
close like a new truck. Polished hinges have been added. The
windshield, vent windows, and front side windows all appear to be
replaced and are extremely clear. The rear side windows and back
window all appear to be original and have minor scratches. And of
course, we can't forget the beefy off-road BF Goodrich all-terrain
tires. They are size 31x10.5 R15 and attached to sharp looking 15"
chrome rims. The front has manual locking hubs. All the chrome trim
is in great shape with just some minor dings and scratches here and
there. The front and rear bumpers have been rechromed or could
possibly even be reproduction. They have an extremely shiny
reflective finish. The front grill and light assemblies appear to
be totally refurbished or are reproductions and are in fantastic
condition. Last but not least is the spare tire mounted on a swing
out carrier behind the tailgate. A Baja Bronco by Stroppe vinyl
cover is the cherry on top and lets everybody know exactly what
they're looking at.
INTERIOR: The interior is a total exercise of functionality! The
low back lightweight front bucket seats are surprisingly
comfortable and have been reupholstered with parchment vinyl just
like the originals. The rear bench seat matches. There are seat
belts in the front and rear so you can take the whole family for a
cruise. The tan carpeting has been replaced; it fits and looks
good. The interior metal has been painted to body color and is
smooth and shiny just like the outside. All the weather strippings
have been replaced. The dash pad has been replaced. The dashboard
itself has been painted parchment white with all the gauges and
knobs looking great. It appears to have its original steering
wheel. The four-wheel drive selection lever looks new and comes up
from the floor in between the front seats. It also has electric
wipers with the motor and mechanical arms mounted on the inside of
the window. What a cool interior that was strictly built for
business!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is a detailed engine bay! Every component
looks fresh and neatly installed. A performance built 302 is at the
center of it all. The correct air cleaner sits on top of a Holley
double pumper carburetor with electronic choke. It also has a
Edelbrock performer intake manifold and aluminum heads with
headers. The finned aluminum Bronco script valve covers are very
appealing. It has optional power steering and brakes. Both appear
new and it has a Wilwood master cylinder. It has been upgraded with
an aftermarket aluminum radiator and electric fan. A serpentine
belt drive system has been added as well. The fender wells and
firewall are painted poppy red. The bottom side of the hood is
satin black and gas struts were added to keep it up. The hood latch
and hardware look like new also. Totally cool and done totally
right!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: This truck is finished really slick all the way
around! When you lift the glass and fold down the tailgate the
quality of the workmanship is apparent. The back side of the
tailgate and even the jambs are finished just as smooth and shiny
as the exterior body. The weather stripping has been replaced. All
the hinges and hardware are either new or repainted. The custom fit
carpeting comes all the way to the back and has a finished
edge.
UNDERSIDE: What a totally beautiful truck! The bottom looks just as
good as the top! Almost all the steering components are fresh, and
we actually upgraded many parts to improve the steering and ride
quality of this truck. The lifted suspension components are clean
and fresh looking as well. The front coil springs and rear leaf
springs have all been replaced as well as the Bilstein shocks. It
has front disc brakes with fresh looking calipers and rear drum
brakes that have been painted black. All the brake lines have been
replaced. The full dual exhaust has been recently replaced with
factory style bends; it has cherry bomb style mufflers. The
tailpipes exit behind the rear wheels. Looking up at the 302 V8
motor It has been painted Ford blue and looks completely fresh.
There are no leaks visible. We rebuilt the C-4 automatic
transmission, so it is fresh and free of any leaks. The front
differential, transfer case, drive shafts and rear end all look
fresh and new. They have been neatly painted black. The floors are
totally clean and rust free. They have been painted poppy red to
match the lower portion of the body. This has received a full nut
and bolt frame off restoration so basically everything is new
underneath!
SERVICE: Our professional team of mechanics has completed a
thorough inspection of this vehicle and repair to replace the
following items: We spent $8,920 making improvements and getting it
dialed in. We took it to a front end shop and upgraded it with a
James Duff dual heim steering and caster bushings. Replaced the
factory brackets with upgraded drop kit and gave it an alignment.
We also went through the brakes: adjusted the rears, replaced the
master cylinder, and bled the system. We went through the
electrical: replaced the alternator, regulator the battery and
installed a volt gauge. Repaired turn signal, gauge, horn, and
clock wiring. We installed the door pull, replaced the speedo gear,
and installed a new cable, replaced the fan. We had the trans
completely rebuilt and tuned the engine. This Bronco is now ready
to cruise with confidence!
Super cool tribute Bronco here! You can have all the performance
and looks of the Bill Stroppe winning Baja 500 & 1000 trucks rolled
into a package that dominates both on and off road!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
