Vehicle Description
Chassis No. 9110200299
Engine No. 6201189
It is said that the ever-popular 911 is an accessible sports car
that can be appreciated by anyone looking for something with
exceptional vintage appeal. Yet for many interested in the
1965-1973 early 911 era, there are examples, such as this 911 E,
that offer the special look and feel that the true connoisseurs of
Stuttgart's appreciate. Ordered within Germany, this 911 was
optioned with one additional extra, the beloved but rarely
originally ordered Porsche side stripes in Black. New for 1970 were
2.2-liter engines across the entire model range with increased
power and torque. It was specified with the uprated 911 E
Einspritzung engine with mechanical fuel injection - just like the
911 S and finished in the electric shade Conda Green, one of 13
exceptional colors offered that year.
Its history file reveals paperwork from its time in Germany prior
to importation by Robert Tobin between 1984 and 1985. Prior to
leaving Germany, and after Tobin's purchase, it was sent to the
famous RUF Automobile of Pfaffenhausen, Germany. RUF was tasked
with converting it home-market specification to U.S.-specification
for ease of import. When completed, import paperwork shows it
entered the U.S. in 1985. No doubt enjoyed in the U.S. as it had
been while in Germany, the car was sent to Daniel Jacobs
Specialists in 2011 for a restoration in its original shade of
Conda Green. When it emerged from Jacobs' Oxford, Connecticut shop
in 2014 its specification had been subtly enhanced. The resplendent
exterior now featured through the grille fog lights, an aerodynamic
911 S front spoiler, and "deep six" Fuchs wheels reportedly
restored by Harvey Weidman. The exceptionally stock interior was
brought alive with black leather sport seats featuring black and
white Pepita cloth inserts and perforated bolsters.
Appearing in very much the same highly-desirable condition as when
it was completed, it is noted to retain its matching numbers
2.2-liter engine as per its Porsche-issued Certificate of
Authenticity. Furthermore, it is offered with the previously
mentioned history file and a toolkit should the mood strike to
attend a Porsche concours, where it should no doubt make a good
showing.
