This is one of the nicest classic Mercedes-Benz 113-series cars
we've had in a very long time. These are also known as Pagodas - in
the 230SL, 250SL and 280SL family. A very solid original car, this
example was professionally restored several years ago and used very
little since. Finished in its original color-Dark Olive Green-that
looks spectacular with the all-new Parchment interior (done in
leather, not MB Tex). The new convertible top is also matching
olive green, plus we have the factory hardtop. Every aspect of the
car was refreshed to make it an extremely high-level car, but still
one you can drive and enjoy.
Equipped with A/C (with a modern compressor & 134A refrigerant),
automatic transmission and power steering, plus it has the original
Becker Europa radio, owner's books, tools, spare tire cover and
original locking gas cap. And for the 113 experts: YES, it has
notches, spot welds and correct chassis number stamped on the
hood.
The chrome is show quality and the car drives far better than most
of these, due to attention being given to the suspension, brakes,
electrical and cooling systems-many just get prettied-up on the
outside and are still largely worn-out beaters underneath.
The engine is believed to be original, has been overhauled, and the
title was branded 'actual mileage' at 61,736 in 2021, but we do not
have a pile of historical records to support that. The polished cam
cover and updated A/C would hurt the car in serious show judging,
but it's still one of the best 280SLs available.
Everyone knows it's always cheaper to buy a vintage car that
someone else paid to properly restore rather than having one done
yourself-plus losing two years or driving while the job is done.
But, some people enjoy the life experience of a restoration, so if
that's you, take a look at the burgundy 280SL project we have for
sale!
If you are considering one of the classic or collectible cars on
our website, be assured that coming for a personal visit to inspect
first-hand the car that has captured your fancy is very welcome. We
practice transparency in all of our descriptions, but believe that
nothing is as convincing as seeing and touching the car yourself.
Plan a few hours, so you can see, touch, feel and drive the car,
and enjoy a tour of our restoration shops to see 'where the magic
happens.' If your schedule is too committed, we also welcome a
knowledgeable agent visiting for you. Please understand that sales
are final, so the time for all due diligence is before you buy. Our
cars are sold AS-IS, since most are on consignment from owners. We
follow FTC guidelines for all sales and certainly want our future
clients leaving more glowing reports among our reviews!
