Derived from the Caprice and built on the GM B-body platform, this one owner, pristine 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS was purchased new from Pape Chevrolet on 11/6/95 and currently reads 3,653 miles on the odometer. The SS version of the Impala is equipped with the Caprice's 9C1 police package, which includes such goodies as beefed up suspension, a high-capacity cooling system, dual exhaust, a transmission cooler and larger disc brakes. A limited-slip rear differential was standard, and it rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires.

Under the hood is GM's 5.7-liter LT1 V-8 also used by the Corvette and Camaro. In the Impala, however, the LT1 has cast iron cylinder heads instead of aluminum as well as a different camshaft set up for usable torque rather than peak power and two-bolt main bearing caps instead of the four on the Corvette. Horsepower is rated at 260, but torque is an impressive 330 lb-ft. In 1996, the Impala SSs included a redesigned instrument panel with tachometer and relocated the shifter from the column to the floor.

As if it was sitting in a time capsule, the car was recently pulled out of storage where it's been sitting since 1998. A fresh oil change, brake flush, a/c recharge & drive belt replacement have been completed. Everything else on this car is original and everything works, including the power antenna.

The vehicle was completely detailed inside & out and the paint has been protected with SystemX Max ceramic coating.
