This 1970 AMC Javelin SST is powered by a 390ci 8-cylinder engine
paired with a BorgWarner M11B 3-speed automatic transmission. This
Mark Donohue Edition example has been recently serviced and has
been repainted in its factory-correct color. It is fitted with an
independent front-wheel suspension system that makes use of the
upper arms and ball joints. The front-wheel suspension is
complemented by a leaf spring/hydraulic shock absorber on the other
side. The Donohue Edition features heavy-duty suspension parts,
power steering, 11-inch powered disc brakes at the front with
10-inch drums at the rear, a Ram Air system and a differential with
limited slip. Inside is a tachometer that reads up to 8,000 rpm.
The car still has its original door tag showing the 79A paint code
for Bittersweet Orange, and the VIN number shows it is a 390-V4
version. This vehicle is from a 150-car AMC museum in the
Netherlands.
