I acquired this 1968 Ford Mustang convertible in 2018. The vehicle underwent a complete rotisserie teardown and build, which included a 427ci V8 (520HP/525TQ) engine equipped with AFR cylinder heads, a Borla eight-stack throttle body system, Holley fuel injection, a March Performance pulley system, and a stainless-steel exhaust with Borla resonators and Thrash mufflers. Shifting is handled by a 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a 9″ rear end, an Eaton Truetrac differential, and 3.70 gears. The car rides on 17″ wheels and features Wilwood disc brakes and Total Control Products coilover suspension. The exterior boasts a Kona Blue finish with black stripes, complemented by a black soft top.
Inside, the interior was refreshed with TMI seating trimmed in black leather. Notable features include a Classic Auto Air climate control system, Dakota Digital gauges, and a Kenwood head unit linked to Focal speakers and a Pioneer amplifier and subwoofer. The cabin also includes low-back front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather, coordinated with a TMI dashpad, door panels, and center console.
The steering wheel is mounted on an Ididit tilting column, and the instrument cluster features Dakota Digital instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows approximately 6k miles, all since the build, total original mileage is unknown.
Legendary 17″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force tires. Wilwood multi-piston calipers are fitted over cross-drilled and slotted discs, and rack and pinion steering is equipped. Suspension components sourced from Total Control Products include adjustable coilovers at all four corners, a shock tower brace, subframe connectors, and revised sway bars.
The 427ci V8 was sourced from Prestige Motorsports in Concord, North Carolina, painted to match the body, and installed in 2020. It is equipped with the following components:
The build embraces iconic classic Mustang convertible styling with modern reliability, comfort, and power. It includes a Deluxe Marti Report, a Classic Auto Network appraisal, a car cover, receipts, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
