Vehicle Description
This 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Mod Top is powered by its original and
rebuilt E44 2-barrel 318ci 8-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed
automatic transmission. It has been upgraded with Chrysler J-heads,
a 4-barrel intake manifold and carburetor, and Mopar Performance
valve covers. The chassis and suspension components, which feature
torsion bars in front and leaf springs in the rear, have been
maintained in stock condition with no recent service. The shocks
and bushings were replaced during the restoration. This car has
power steering and manual drum brakes. The brake master cylinder
was replaced recently. The car rolls on stock steel wheels with
hubcaps wrapped in BFGoodrich tires. This example was restored 30
years ago. Details of the restoration include a respray of the
Sunfire Yellow paint, replacement of the window seals and existing
Mod Top with a reproduction. All the glass is original. There is
some paint bubbling under the driver's door and around some bolt
heads under the hood. All the exterior lights are reported to work
normally. The mod interior is mostly original, including the
headliner, mod floral-pattern seat and door panel inserts. This car
has bucket seats and a column shifter, the gauges are in working
order and the manual windows wind up and down with no known issues.
Interior restorations include replacement of the original carpet
with new material from Legendary Interiors, as well as rechroming
of some of the plastic trim. The original steering wheel is wrapped
with an aftermarket cover and the original radio has been upgraded
to receive FM frequencies. There's also a functional, aftermarket
8-track tape player mounted beneath the dashboard. Original
documentation for this one-of-937 Mod Top Barracuda includes the
Broadcast Sheet and other paperwork, including receipts for the
restoration and other miscellaneous items. Remnants of the original
top are stored in the trunk and are included in the sale. From the
Washer Collection.
