Factory big block with factory air conditioning, power steering and
brakes! We just purchased this along with 3 other vehicles from a
collector. He did a nice job restoring it including an engine
rebuild.
EXTERIOR: It's a good-looking truck, slick red paint sure doesn't
hurt. Overall, a very clean, straight body. The red paint is smooth
and glossy with only minor imperfections. The chrome and trim all
shows well too. The glass is tinted. It's sitting on a set of
modern 18 inch aluminum Chevy wheels.
INTERIOR: It's a good looking red deluxe interior! The metal trim
has all been repainted. The panels and armrests were replaced. It
may have the original upholstery with the embossed western pattern.
There is one split at a seam. The carpet was replaced along with
embroidered floor mats. The dash area looks clean. It has a
tachometer mounted to the column. There is also a modern stereo
with kick panel speakers. Complete set of red GM seat belts look
new, and they've added retractable shoulder belts. It has the
optional headliner.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Believed to be the original 396, casting code
is correct. Rebuilt 2,000 miles since a complete rebuild. Upgraded
cam, aluminum intake, Edelbrock carb, HEI ignition and long tube
headers. Factory a/c with several newer components. It also
features power steering and brakes. All the components look proper,
upgraded aluminum radiator. The metal surfaces are clean.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: This long box is very functional! It has a
tonneau cover that easily lifts up and inside is solid metal with a
durable bedliner. You wouldn't be afraid to throw things in
there.
UNDERSIDE: It appears to be very solid and neatly painted black.
The front end steering and suspension looks very fresh and in back
the shocks and springs were replaced. It has a great sounding dual
exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers and stainless rectangular
tips. It has a spare tire mounted underneath. Disc brakes in front,
drum in back. Looking up at the motor it is still very fresh. The
Turbo 400 automatic was rebuilt 2,000 miles ago. The previous owner
also said the rear end was gone through.
SERVICE: After our inspection we lubed the steering column linkage,
fixed the reverse lights, temp gauge, horns and turn signals. We
recalibrated the speedometer and charged the a/c system.
This is a very rare truck. Remember, back then they were work
vehicles and to find a big block with air conditioning, power
steering and power disc brakes is pretty unusual. Red with red
interior is even that much more unique. Not only is this a sharp
looking vintage truck, but it's very usable!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
