Documented with original sales order! This Impala has received a
concourse rotisserie restoration. Extremely rare #'s matching
348-350 hp tri-power with a 4-speed and a 3.70 posi. manual from
the factory! Special ordered by William Harlivy at Ayers Motor
Company on 12-2-60 with the performance driveline. This car was
ordered before the SS option was available. So In May of 1961 he
had the dealer add the SS package which had recently become
available. The car already had the performance driveline, so it
only needed a few bolt on items: trunk and rear quarter emblems, a
Sun tach mounted on the steering column, a passenger grab bar and a
chrome plate on the hump around the shifter. The original owner
kept the car for 40 years and only drove it 68,000 miles before
selling it in 2000. That's when it received a six-figure
professional restoration. What else can you ask for! This bubble
top is a dream come true!
EXTERIOR: This is the original color combination for this vehicle!
The Roman red paint is smooth, shiny, and reflective. It was
applied with great attention to detail and has been impeccably
cared for since it's professional restoration. Very desirable
"bubble top" body style. The fit and finish of all the body panels
are absolutely fantastic. The doors open and close easily like a
new car. The gaps are flawless and consistent all the way around.
All the chrome trim including the grille and bumpers have been
restored and have a highly reflective finish to them. It is decked
out with dual rear antenna, dual bowtie mirrors and bumper guards.
It is sitting pretty on reproduction 14 inch Silvertown BFG tires
mounted on red rims with factory chrome spinner hubcaps. The
windshield and side windows appear to have been replaced, rear
window looks original. The exterior of this car is something
special!
INTERIOR: Sitting inside this car you can feel the nostalgia! It is
restored like new original condition. It's full of rare options
including power windows and a padded dash. SS features include the
Sun tachometer, grab bar and shifter bezel. Seatbelts and Chevy
mats were added. The fully reupholstered interior is comfortable
and looks amazing! The front bench seat leaves you plenty of room
to snuggle with your sweetheart. The rear seat allows room for the
entire family if you desire. The headliner has been replaced and
does not sag. The material on the visors matches the headliner. It
has a day/night rearview mirror that looks like new. The padded
dash is in exceptional condition as well as the gauge cluster,
knobs, and controls. I love the two-tone painted steering wheel.
The door panels are in excellent condition and have the very rare
factory power window controls included. All the carpeting has been
replaced It looks like new. The original 4-speed shifter and knob
protrudes through the floor. Absolutely no disappointments with the
interior of this beauty!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Take a deep breath and soak it all in! This is
the original #s matching 348 Tri-Power. It is the highest
horsepower available out of five versions of the 348. It is making
350 hp with a performance cam and solid lifters. It was completely
rebuilt at the time of restoration and currently runs amazing. The
underside of the hood and fender wells have been painted a satin
finish black that is smooth and neatly applied. The motor is
factory correct; stock manifolds, carbs and reproduction spark plug
wires. The original orange valve covers are included along with the
chrome ones it's wearing. It has factory power brakes, windshield
washers and the Sun tachometer unit. A power steering was added
which makes it much more enjoyable to drive, all the original parts
are included if you wanted to put it back to original. It has
reproduction hoses, clamps and spring clamp battery cables. All the
hoses have been run appropriately. It is show quality, very
detailed!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: This is an exceptional trunk compartment! When
you lift the trunk lid you'll notice the paint on its underside is
done to the same quality as the body. It has reproduction stickers
added. The weatherstrip has been replaced. The metal inside the
trunk is impeccable! It has been neatly painted with the correct
spatter finish paint. It has a reproduction mat. 5th matching
reproduction tire on a restored rim for a spare. Restored jack and
lug wrench are included. The original valve covers and manual
steering gearbox are in the trunk as well if you'd like to return
this car to absolute factory spec. This trunk compartment is truly
like new!
UNDERSIDE: The quality and detail of this undercarriage is
exquisite! It was lifted off the frame and flipped on a rotisserie.
All the steering and suspension has been rebuilt and detailed. It
even has correct spiral shocks. The power brake system has drums
all the way around and has been totally rebuilt. The full dual
exhaust system has been replaced. It includes flowmaster mufflers
and polished chrome tips exiting behind the rear tires. It looks
fresh and has been run with factory style bends. The fuel system
has all been replaced and look like new. Looking up at the motor it
is spotless Chevy Orange with correct starter and canister type oil
filter. It is the original Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual trans
according to the codes and dates. It looks fresh. The positraction
rear end is also original according to the codes and dates. It was
ordered as a 3.70 posi. It looks freshly rebuilt and is neatly
painted black. The floors are very smooth and rust free. They have
been painted the correct red oxide primer and look excellent. The
underbelly of this car is exceptional everywhere I look!
SERVICE: This car has received an extensive inspection by our team
of professional mechanics and the following items were repaired or
replaced: replaced the fuel hose and added a filter and repaired a
bent guide channel on the window. This car was maintained and very
dialed in from the previous owner! It is absolutely ready to
cruise!
Yes, the condition is amazing. What really made it extra special
for me is the order sheet documenting the car. Only 458 Super
Sports were made total and today they are impossible to
authenticate without documentation. Even though this one went back
to the dealer to have the SS trim added, it was born with the
performance driveline. This is an extremely rare investment grade
Impala. This is a "once in a lifetime opportunity" to own such a
remarkable piece of American automotive history!
