Vehicle Description
2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ Coupe
Carlisle Events, about an hour west of Morgantown, has been
producing Corvettes at Carlisle for more than 40 years. It is the
largest gathering of Corvettes in the country attracting in excess
of 3,000 Corvettes of every generation from all over the country.
It's a big deal and in 2012, Chevrolet created a special color as a
tribute to the event, Carlisle Blue. Only 535 cars (4.6% of
Corvette production) wear the color and very few Z06's.
For consignment, one of 12 Carlisle Blue Z06's in existence. The
only car rarer in this color are the 11 ZR1's that were coated in
this special hue. This car has the 3LZ package and has been well
maintained with only 7,334 title verified actual miles. It will
come with the build sheet, window sticker, Z06 car cover and the
satisfaction of owning one of 12 in the world.
Exterior
Impeccable paint covers a beautifully shaped C6 corvette. The
Carlisle Blue provides a spectacular backdrop to all contrasting
colors and surfaces of the car. It makes the gaping front intake
pop, and all the gills and vents and accents present with
incredible clarity. And speaking of accents, the Z06 not only has
the distinct emblem on the front fender, but has rear scoops,
unique side gills, and wider body panels. Let's not forget the
scoop on the hood which appears on other performance models and is
an instant cue to something special. The chrome Z06 wheels are
wrapped in Michelin tires that are less than 3 years old. The back
of the car sports the dramatic quad center exit exhaust tips and
perhaps the most recognizable taillights in American automotive
sports car history.
Interior
The 3LZ package includes a custom leather wrapped interior, memory
package, sport seats with power bolster and power lumbar, heated
seats, leather bucket seats, a tilt/telescopic steering column, and
a Bose audio system with DVD Navigation system, AM/FM/CD,
Bluetooth, and a universal home remote. Looking in the car, all the
titanium and charcoal surfaces are in new condition, as expected.
The charcoal leather headrests have the Z06 logo embroidered and
the logo also appears on the thick steering wheel. The analogue
gauges are relatively basic and are flanked by side pods of toggle
switches to control trip odometer and other information as well as
mode selection. The audio system resides in the center stack where
a screen provides the information. A/C and heater controls fall
just below that and the buttons for the heated seats. The stout
shifter in the center console is positioned to the left and closer
to the driver. A leather wrapped armrest completes the center
features. The low pile black carpet is protected by WeatherTech
mats and the charcoal headliner is factory fresh. A WeatherTech mat
also covers the cargo area while the sun is kept out with a
curtain, all of which look brand new.
Drivetrain
A 7.0 liter LS7 V8 is under the hoods fueled by electronic
injection and rated at a ground stomping 505 horsepower. Red engine
covers over the intake provide dramatic visual impact and the
engine bay is spotless. The TR6060 6-speed manual transmission
transfers power to the rear wheels where it meets 3.42 gears and GM
Positraction. Power disc brakes, likely larger than a Geo Metro's
wheels, are set at each corner.
Undercarriage
Nothing unexpected underneath. Some surface rust on the welds of
the exhaust but that's nothing new. The dual exhaust flows through
a pair of catalytic converters, then factory mufflers, and out four
chrome tips. The complex performance suspension consists of double
wishbone upper and lower control arms, transverse composite leaf
springs, and monotube shock absorbers.
Drive-Ability
We don't go too far with these low mileage cars but enough of a
ride to make sure everything functions for the next lucky
caretaker. The seats are very good in this car and the ergonomics
do hint at a track car. The car has an amazing exhaust note and
we'd enjoy just hearing it idle, but we have work to do. Around the
loop we take it and it performs as a new car would. This one is 12
years old but you'd never know it. It even smells good. Our report?
Everything works.
This is what we like to call a "lottery car", if you won the
lottery, what are you taking home from the mall? This would be high
on the list. It's an exquisite and rare American classic. We're
