Vehicle Description
2000 Jaguar XJ-Series Vanden Plas
VIN: SAJDA24C1YLF18034
The year 2000 has brought a good deal of media attention to Jaguar.
It has a new midsize luxury sedan in the S-Type. And on the XK side
of planet Jaguar, there's the new supercharged XKR. But let's not
forget about the car that best represents Jaguar's history and
character -- the XJ8. This is the sedan that epitomizes British
coach building.
Just prior to World War II, Jaguar, known then as SS Cars, started
using a numbering system beginning with the letter X for internal
projects. X meaning experimental, XB for military chassis projects,
and XF to XK for engines. This numbering system has never been
consistent and there appear to be many omissions and
duplications.
The base XJ8 came standard with more equipment than had been fitted
to entry-level XJs in the past, including leather upholstery, alloy
wheels, and air conditioning. The door mirrors and door handles are
body-coloured. The radiator grille, windscreen and rear window
surrounds, boot lid plinth, and rain gutters were chromed, while
the window frames remained matte black. Interior wood trim is
walnut. Rear badging reads XJ8. For the home market in September
2000, Jaguar began badging the XJ8 model as XJ Executive, and
fitted as standard rain-sensing wipers, a CD player, cruise
control, and rear parking sensors.
This particular model had a newer transmission at 75k miles, newer
leather upholstery, front seats, center console and driver's side
armrest. There's newer wool floor mats in the front and the back
with a new Headliner as well. Included in the sale will be two sets
of tires, (both winter and summer), Jaguar car cover and two sets
of keys with the Valet key also. The seller reports the car shows
110,800 miles on the odometer.
Seller reports that "all maintenance has been kept up to date and
all work was performed at a certified Jaguar shop". He also states
that this tricked out stretch car was the Queen's choice to be
driven around in.
