California Speedster has had an extraordinary history for the past
four (4) decades. Finished in a classic color combination of Silver
Metallic (5706) with a Black leatherette interior. This is the 14th
Speedster, built in 1957 with beehive taillights and European
bumperettes. The paintwork is in superb condition and is
complemented by the chrome brightwork and Speedster trim. The
interior has been reupholstered including the dash, Speedster
seats, canvas soft top, and boot cover with correct German
materials. The factory VDM steering wheel, horn button, and VDO
instrumentation are in great condition. New Vredestein Sprint
Classic 165 HR15 tires are mounted on painted 4.5" x 15" rims with
Baby Moon hubcaps.
Mechanically powered by a 1600cc flat-four engine (Type 616/39)
with Solex P40 carburetors producing 100 horsepower plus and is
paired with a smooth-shifting manual 4-speed transmission (Type
741) with a four-wheel drum braking system that has been completely
rebuilt. This Speedster is very enjoyable to drive with plenty of
power. The electrical system has been upgraded from 6 volts to 12
volts. Complete with spare wheel, side curtains, boot cover, and
Porsche Kardex-an excellent opportunity to acquire a beautifully
restored Speedster that is finished in a very desirable color
combination.
