Built on the chassis of the Giulietta Spider with a coachbuilt steel and aluminum body designed by Carrozzeria Bertone, the Giulietta Sprint Speciale was a limited-production homologation special. With an extremely low weight and an incredibly low drag coefficient of 0.28 (the same as a C6 Corvette), the car's 1.3L Inline-4 was capable of propelling the car to around 125mph - much higher than its siblings managed.

It is estimated that no more than 1,366 Giulietta Sprint Speciales were produced between 1959 and 1963. With its limited production and BAT-concept-inspired design, Giulietta Sprint Speciales (and the similar Giulia Sprint Speciale) are highly regarded by enthusiasts and critics alike. Precise handling and brisk acceleration ensure every journey is memorable, though taller individuals may find the car just a touch too small for their needs.

The spectacular 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale Coupe featured here is finished in its stunning factory original color of Bluette over a Light Grey interior. Number 216 of the 374 examples built in 1961, a letter on file from Alfa Romeo’s Centro Documentazione certifies that chassis number 177216 completed assembly in late October 1961, came finished in Bluette, and it was sold one month later to a marque dealership in Lugano, Switzerland, the Società per il Commercio dei Prodotti Alfa Romeo.

By the 2000s, the car was in the possession of a collector residing in Belgium, where it was discovered by a Sprint Speciale enthusiast based in Indianapolis in 2010. He purchased the car and imported it into the US, whereupon he commenced a multi-year restoration. In December 2019, the Giulietta was acquired by one of the world’s foremost Alfa Romeo collectors. Under his careful watch, the Sprint Speciale was fastidiously maintained. As such, the car is well prepared for immediate driving enjoyment. It is important to note that the Giulietta retains what is believed to be its original matching numbers engine, AR 00120.

It is unusual to encounter a Sprint Speciale that has been treated to such a high level of restoration, so this particular car is the perfect selection for any premier collection. Accompanied by owner’s manuals, a tool roll, and a spare wheel, this faithfully restored and maintained example of the striking coach-built Giulietta is offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
