Details
This one-owner 2004 Toyota Tacoma SR5 is powered by a 2.7L inline-four-cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels through a part-time, two-speed transfer case. It’s painted in Radiant Red with a tan cloth interior and seating for five with extended cab jump-seats. This Tacoma came with the SR5 and preferred accessory packages with features such as chrome grille and bumpers, air conditioning, and a CD/cassette player. Additional factory options include 16-inch aluminum wheels and a sliding rear window. The owner added a color-matched hard-shell bed canopy and liner and a hood-mounted bug shield. The odometer shows 68,662 original miles and the CarFax confirms registration in Washington and Tennessee by one owner. The report also indicates regular dealer service throughout ownership. The truck is located in Tennessee.
This Tacoma has been inspected and photographed by a third party to document the current condition of the vehicle. Overall, the truck presents well. The red paint has retained its rich color and shows minimal signs of wear that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. Similarly, the interior shows minimal wear and tear and the only issue is a non-functional display on the original stereo. The engine compartment also appears clean, which is an indication of regular maintenance. A road test confirmed that all features operate as they were designed. Photographs show some grease on the front and rear driveshafts and surface rust on the exhaust system, neither of which interfere with the truck’s performance. An engine scan tool identified a heater circuit bank sensor code that should be investigated and no further information is available. The sale includes two sets of keys, the original owner’s manual and window sticker, and the bed liner mat.
This Toyota Tacoma is being sold as a verified listing on CLASSIC.COM and is located in Franklin, TN.

About the model
The first generation Toyota Tacoma was introduced for the 1995 model year. Although related to the Toyota Hilux, the Tacoma was originally developed to be specific to the US and Canadian markets, and as such, featured greater emphasis on ride comfort and quality as opposed to other markets. Regular Cab (2 doors), Xtracab (2 doors), and Double Cab (4 doors) versions were offered for the 1st Gen Tacoma, as were rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. Three engine options were available: a 2.4L I4 (2RZ-FE), a 2.7L I4 (3RZ-FE), and a 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE). Regardless of engine or drivetype, manual and automatic transmissions were available. A wide range of variants were built, including the PreRunner, S-Runner, and SR5. Production of the 1st Gen Toyota Tacoma ended in 2004 before it was replaced by the 2nd Gen Tacoma.
