Vehicle Description
STK 3776 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner
The Ford Skyliner was a retractable hardtop/convertible model
produced by Ford from 1957 thru 1959.The Skyliner was known for its
innovative retractable roof mechanism, which allowed the car to
transform from a closed hardtop to an open convertible, combining
the practicality of a hardtop with the driving experience of a
convertible. This partially restored 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 is a
nice, mostly original example of the Skyliner. It is quite unique
as it is virtually 'complete' - finding replacement parts for this
rare model can be difficult. The previous owner has cared for this
classic for over 10 years. The Skyliner received a re-spray of
Colonial White in 1979 and all chrome/stainless components are in
very good condition. Remington wide-white bias ply tires are
mounted on 14" steel wheels with factory correct full hubcaps.
The original interior is in overall good condition showing only
some minor age-related wear. Upholstery, dash and door cards show
well and the carpeting appears to have been carefully preserved.
Other interior features include an factory AM radio (needs TLC) and
tinted windows,. The power assisted folding hardtop also functions
well. This Fairlane 500 is powered by a Y-block 'Thunderbird' 312ci
V8 rated at 245hp with a single 4-barrel carb. It is said to have
never required a rebuild and runs strong. A 3-speed Ford-O-Matic
automatic gearbox supplies torque to the factory open differential
w/3.56:1 gearing (code 2). The chassis is equipped with power
steering and manual brakes w/11" drums. The classic 1957 Ford
Skyliner remains a sought-after collector's car among automotive
enthusiasts. This is a nice one. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
