For Sale: 1964 Chevrolet Impala in Santa Monica, California

Vehicle Description

Show ready 1964 Impala Lowrider. Bored 357 Corvette motor, hydraulics, lots of chrome and gold plating. Drive this down the road and everybody takes a picture!.

Over the past 3 years work has involved boring the V8 to 357ci, and replacing or modifying almost everything except the yellow paint. Front to back, there’s not a visible nut or bolt thats not chrome plated or gold plated or part thats not retouched to accent the yellow, black, gold, and chrome theme. With quality parts from Edelbrock, AFR, Comp Cams, Melling, Hoppos, and HiFonics this car was built to last. This Impala lowrider is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The original body is finished in a factory Goldwood Yellow and features rear fender skirts as well as metal with black accented side moldings and dual rear antennas. The light front and rear surrounds, side mirrors, door handles, badging, antenna mounts, and rear bumper overriders have been 22/24 hard gold-plated. Orange LEDs have been added to the headlights, underbody, and engine bay.

13″ Zenith wire wheels are finished in black and gold and with custom engraved lips and spokes as well as two-eared knock-off centers. They are mounted with 155/80 Remington Touring LX whitewall tires. Braking is handled by front discs with cross-drilled and slotted rotors along with rear drums. The car is also equipped with custom front control arms and rear trailing arms chrome plated with gold accents.

Under the hood  a 327ci unit sourced from a 1966 Corvette with block number stamped GM3858174. The engine has been rebuilt and board .040 over  to 357ci with 10.6:1 compression. Further parts and include:

  • Forged high-compression pistons
  • Edelbrock Performer #1406 carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake manifold
  • AFR 195cc Enforcer cylinder heads
  • COMP Cams Ultra Pro Magnum roller rockers
  • Melling Class 1 camshaft
  • RAB Performance Parts serpentine kit
  • Edelbrock water pump
  • Aluminum Radiator w/ switch-controlled fans
  • Braided fuel and coolant lines
  • Stainless-steel short headers
  • Magnaflow 2.5 in exhaust and mufflers

The block, cylinder heads, and harmonic balancer are powder coated Prismatic Brilliant Gold. The air filter cover, battery cover, and spark plug wire mounts powder coated Prismatic Gold Sparkle with all other engine accessories chrome or gold plated.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic heavy duty transmission recently rebuilt in Jan 24' and a Ford 9” chrome plated rear axle that has been reinforced and fitted with heavy-duty wheel bearings. The differential was rebuilt in July 2022 and motor in summer Aug 23' with WestSide Performance in Santa Monica, California.

The frame has reinforced front and rear stress joints, belly, and Ford 9” rear end. A Hoppo’s hydraulic suspension utilizes eight batteries powering two trunk-mounted pumps with a #13 Presto-Hi gear motor for the front and #11 Presto on the rear. Three dumps and custom piping lead to 8″ cylinders up front and 12” units out back. All displayed in a custom built 1/4 inch acrylic black-mirror finish trunk enclosure with gold accents. Four switches mounted below the steering column operate the system. This car is ready to lay and play. Under current ownership, this car was never hopped and rarely 3 wheeled.

The two rows of bench seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl with patterned cloth inserts. Chrome, polished aluminum, gloss black, and 22/24 hard Gold-plated accents the dashboard, rear seat, and doors.

A body-color steering wheel frames the original  horizontal 120-mph speedometer, fuel level, temp, oil, and, power gauges. Additional Autometer Prestige instrumentation with gold plated bezels consisting of an 8k-rpm tachometer and readouts for oil pressure and coolant temperature are mounted in a custom chrome frame below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, less than 2500 of which were added under current ownership.

An Alpine head unit is concealed in the glovebox with an electronic switch controlled door.  Four Kicker 6x9’s in the rear are powered by a Hifonics Brutus 1600-watt four-channel amplifier mounted in the trunk next to a Hifonics Brutus 3,300-watt single-channel amplifier with provisions for a subwoofer. Two Infiniti 6x9’s in the front are directly mounted to the Alpine head unit.

Car runs perfect!
