Vehicle Description
Want a super cool cruiser that's ready to roll? How about one with
some of the best vintage styling ever draped over two doors and
four tires? If the answer is a resounding "YES", this 1937 Ford
Slantback Sedan is exactly the car you've been searching for! With
its reliable Chevrolet V8, smooth automatic transmission and rich
two-tone color combination, this custom is an ideal classic for
anyone who enjoys exploring the open road. If you're looking to add
a little spice to your weekend routine, here's the perfect way to
take Sunday drives to a whole new level!
BODYWORK/TRIM
With their wind-swept design and classic good looks, late-'30s
Fords have always been highly desirable cars. Not surprisingly,
gearheads, chop shops and 70 years' worth of dedicated fans have
elevated them to one of hot rodding's greatest cultural icons. And
this awesome Slantback has, with the help of a thorough, frame-off
restoration, been transformed into one super slick street rod. The
car's build began with a complete tear down of its rock-solid Henry
Ford steel fuselage. Once that fuselage's sinuous panels were
massaged to near perfection, glossy two-tone base was married to a
thick layer of clear. And today, this sizzling classic is a fully
sorted boulevard king that's likely caused more than its fair share
of slackjaw stumbles and clumsily missed steps!
The beauty of a well-done street rod is often found in the
simplicity of its execution. And in this case, modifications were
kept subtle and classy. Enhancements here include a smoothed hood,
tucked bumpers, rounded door corners, and custom fuel filler door.
Traditional painted steel wheels with polished trim rings and
center caps give the car a timeless understated look.
V8 Power
In the auto enthusiast world, there are few bigger faux pas than
something that promises performance but doesn't deliver. "It looks
fast" just doesn't cut it with real car guys, so the storied
flathead that might traditionally power this sedan has officially
been swapped for a hot aluminum headed ZZ4 350 cubic inch Chevrolet
small block crate engine. A proven Edelbrock 4bbl carb and HEI
distributor round out a very reliable power package. Chrome
accessories and smooth firewall add style points and showcase the
builds attention to detail.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Bottom side, this Ford's fully finished body rides on a modern Art
Morrison chassis that's been assembled to exacting standards. The
proven small block torques a 700R4 overdrive automatic
transmission, which spins a trick independent rear axle. That
custom drivetrain pushes a familiar Mustang II style front half
opposite a polished Jag-style independent rear suspension worthy of
its own showcase. Adjustable coil over shocks mounted at each
corner. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion
steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to, power-assisted
calipers, which squeeze vented discs at all four corners. At the
edges of the floor, 2.5-inch, true-dual exhaust breathes through
coated pipes and throaty performance mufflers. And everything is
well planned, well executed and ready to work its magic!
INTERIOR
Pop this sedan's doors and you'll find a clean leatherette interior
with excellent fit and finish. Much nicer than traditional factory
fodder. A custom upholstered bench seat sits behind a smoothed and
pinstriped dash. The driver controls a stylish leather-wrapped
Lecarra steering wheel and is kept informed by custom installed VDO
gauges. Comfort is met with the addition of air conditioning and
tunes come courtesy of a modern stereo system hidden away in the
glove box.
