Vehicle Description
This 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL roadster is powered by an upgraded
2.8-liter 6-cylinder engine with mechanical fuel injection sourced
from a 280SL, mated to an automatic transmission. The removable
hardtop is in original condition with the original patina. The
suspension, fuel system, electrical system, brakes and steering
have all been restored. The engine has been tuned up, the interior
wood has been refinished and it rolls on new period-correct tires.
The restoration was completed by a German national who worked for
Mercedes-Benz during the 1960s, and whose knowledge of the car was
instrumental in the process. This engine requires leaded gasoline
or a lead substitute fuel additive. Included in the sale is a
hardtop stand and cover, a car cover, the original owner's manual
and documents, including a full record of restorations dating back
to 1996. Additional parts include block, head, crankshaft,
camshaft, mechanical fuel injector, water pump, pan, head cover,
timing chains, six full pistons and five piston heads.
