Vehicle Description
"Boogie Nights," the brainchild of Phil Cato of Cato's Custom
Upholstery, started life as a C20, 3/4-ton pickup. It was the
recipient of a frame-off restoration and customization into a C10
pickup, where the suspension and drivetrain were upgraded, it was
sandblasted and powder-coated classic black, and a heavy focus was
placed on ARP-branded bolts. Underneath the hood, you will find CVF
hood hinges, an engine bay body-worked and painted in a flat green,
boasting a 2018 GM 6.2-liter V8 engine mated to an 8L90E 8-speed
automatic transmission and running a CVF front-runner belt-drive
system. The stock gas tank is concealed under the bed in the
factory location, and the complete underside of the truck is
undercoated in a smooth/textured undercoat finish. The power is
expelled through a set of stock manifolds routed through a custom
MagnaFlow stainless true dual exhaust. All of this connects with a
Painless wiring body harness and a stand-alone engine and
transmission harness. The brakes are controlled by stainless-steel
lines and Baer 4-piston brakes, giving "Boogie Nights" the ultimate
in stopping power. The truck sits on a set of 20-inch Halibrand
wheels, 20x8 in front and 20x10 in back, with a full QA1 coilover
suspension, to give it the proper ride height. After the truck was
restored with all-new sheet metal from AMD, it was meticulously
body-worked and painted by Cato and Rockford Smith with Rockford
custom paint. Together, they created the one-of-a-kind "AvoCato"
Green and the one-off custom painted stripes using only the best
Akol Nobel Paint products. No detail was missed inside the bed,
either. It was color-matched with textured/smooth undercoated
finish. The interior was crafted by Cato himself, featuring Moore &
Giles leather, a custom handcrafted foam seat resting on a stock
frame, a Sparc Industries steering wheel and New Vintage gauges.
"Boogie Nights" also features Restomod air conditioning, which was
placed in the original location. This truck has a set of 6.5-inch
Focal speakers, resting in a custom-built set of lower door panels,
and includes one 10-inch KICKER Comp RT subwoofer and a KICKER KX
800.5 amplifier behind the seats. This upgraded sound system is
powered by a Classic Alpine tape deck that is retrofitted with
Bluetooth. A complete new set of rubber, glass and seals were also
installed. "Boogie Nights" has been honored with a multi-page
spread and the cover of Street Trucks magazine in March 2023. It
was also featured at the New Vintage Gauges Booth at SEMA and was
the Auto Metal Direct (AMD) Catalog cover truck. **TITLED AS A 1977
