Vehicle Description
This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Convertible is a strong running
muscle car with just that right sound that will make every head
turn when pulling into your local cruise night. Chevrolet's
mid-size car in 1969 was the Chevelle and the formula worked
wonders with Chevy selling millions of these A-body beasts for the
better part of a decade (64-72). Powering this '69 Chevelle SS is a
non-original 396 engine fed by a Single 4 Barrel Edelbrock
Carburetor mounted atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. The
big block is backed by a Turbo 400 3-spd Automatic Transmission
which is believed to be the original and is shifted via a console
mounted Horseshoe-style shifter. Exhaust leaves through a set of
headers and out through a throaty sounding dual exhaust setup, the
car seems to have a slight cam in it - it has a very nice thump to
it. With a 3:55 Posi-traction rear differential, you'll be sure
that you'll keep the rubber to the pavement while cruising in this
Chevelle. Options include Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes,
power top, bucket seats, console, and an upgraded AM-FM. The black
power convertible top is in wonderful condition, and it goes up and
down with the simple flick of a switch housed in the dash. The car
rides on a set of 15" BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires (rear 225/60 and
215/70 in the front) mounted on a set of classic day-two styled
Cragar S/S wheels (15x7 and 15X6) . The exterior of this SS has
been refinished in beautiful Monza Red paint (originally code 40
Butternut Yellow) along with white SS-style side stripes. The
interior of the car is very nice and comfortable. The front bucket
seats and rear bench seat are in great shape with no tears, all the
seat belts are there and operational. The black vinyl door panels,
black carpeting, black padded dash, center console with
horseshoe-style shifter, and steering wheel are all in fantastic
shape and appear to be in their stock configuration. There is a
modern, classic looking sound system in it now with added speakers
installed into the door panels - sounds good. The car is equipped
with the std instrument cluster with the addition of a temp and oil
pressure gauge added under the dash. The dash is in good shape, all
windows operate as intended, the braking system and suspension all
feel very solid - the car is a great driver. We grade this car a
solid #3 - high end driver. With a little work the next owner can
easily take this to the next level. The car has no paperwork.
