The 1964 Valiant was the first redesign since its inception and
sported a trim, squared-up shape, similar in some respects to the
style popularized by the Ford Thunderbird of the era. The grille
was essentially an upside-down trapezoid and the fender line ran
all the way down the side from front to back, where it curved back
over the front wheel and faded out. The V100 was the base car, the
V200 had more options, and the V200 Signet was top of the line not
just for its model but for that era. The Valiant model all hosted a
slant six-cylinder engine of 170 cid or 225 cdi, with 101 or 145
hp. The base model offered two- and four-door sedans and a station
wagon, while the V200 added a convertible. The Valiant Signet,
meanwhile, was only available as a two-door hardtop or convertible.
Nearly one-fifth of Plymouth's half million units during the 1963
model year were Valiants.
This particular 1964 Plymouth Valiant V-200 Convertible is a rare
find and hosts what appears to be the original engine and
transmission and a fresh functioning power convertible top. This
example was purchased by its current owner over 39 years ago and as
such has always been properly maintained and stored. With the
classic push button shifter setup, the rebuilt 225ci engine,
rebuilt carburetor, new top and rear window, new master cylinder,
rebuilt steering assembly, stainless steel exhaust, and newer rear
shocks, there are many great points to this vehicle hidden
within!
This model is in good driving condition and is ready to be enjoyed
by its next owner as such! With all the life left in it and a lot
of work completed to make this ready to enjoy, it's a model worth
asking about within our collection and should be a quick sale this
summer!
