Pontiac was introduced to the world in 1927 as a more expensive line for Oakland, eventually taking over Oakland completely in 1933 because of its popularity. Fast forwarding to 1940, it was a banner year for Pontiac with it’s all new design and offerings of both flathead six and eight cylinder models. While the special six was the most common, they also offered a “Deluxe Six” that shared the same wheelbase chassis and similar trim options as the eight cylinder cars and are much more uncommon today.
Offered here is an amazing time capsule: a 1940 Pontiac Deluxe Six sedan that has just 46,000 original miles from new and is completely original. Having had only two documented owners from new, the condition seems almost unbelievable. Coming from a well known collection/estate in Connecticut this car has been very well cared for and has won multiple awards including the preservation award at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance as well as its Historical Preservation award (HPOF) from the AACA. Mechanically it runs and drives great and has just been serviced including new wheel cylinders, master cylinder and brake lines. So original that it comes with it’s original bill of sale and original tools. It was owned by its original owner until 1975 when the second owner, Mr. Bob Wise of Westport, Connecticut would obtain the car and own it until his passing last year.
