The Mondial 8 was introduced in 1980 as a replacement for its 2+2
predecessor, the 308 GT4. Its longer and wider chassis provided
better passenger accommodation, while ongoing development produced
the 'Quattrovalvole' model of 1982 and the Mondial Cabriolet of
1984 - the first true convertible Ferrari since the Daytona Spider.
The combination of topless design, performance, and superb road
manners was a resounding success, with Road & Track declaring
"Faster, better looking with wind-in-the-hair driving and all the
attention from the sidelines you can handle."
The final iteration of the Mondial was the Mondial T, which was
introduced in 1989 with a larger 3.4-liter V-8 engine mated to a
transversely-mounted five-speed gearbox, devised for Ferrari's
Formula 1 cars over a decade earlier. This lowered the driveline
five inches, improved handling, and allowed for easier servicing.
With output approaching 300 horsepower, the larger engine propelled
the Mondial T to 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds and onwards to a
reported top speed of 158 miles per hour. It is widely considered
to be the most desirable of the Mondial models.
Factory options include power windows, cassette sound system, air
conditioning, alloy wheels, power steering, four-wheel disc brakes,
seating for four, full size spare.
One of approximately 1,010 similar cars built during a run from
1989 through 1993, this particular Mondial T remains in excellent
condition throughout. Driven sparingly since new, this example
benefits from a recent engine-out service that includes the timing
belt, water pump, tensioners and rollers. Comes with tool kit,
owners handbook, Service history. This Mondial T is exceptional, in
rare colors, serviced and ready to go.
