Vehicle Description
Both rare and highly desirable, this Bel Air Bubble Top is one of
the coolest people movers on the planet! Much more impressive than
when it originally rolled down GM's assembly line, this well-done
coupe has been transformed into a take-no-prisoners weekender that
consistently headlines cruise nights.
What started as a low-mileage, rust-free, west-coast car has been
refined and reimagined into the showstopper you see today. Work
began with stripping the entire car and taking the body down to
bare metal. Subtle modifications were made such as removal of hood
and quarter panel script and smoothing of the engine compartment.
While the body work was being perfected and covered in brilliant
Crystal Red Metallic paint, the original trim was painstakingly
straightened and replated in show worthy chrome. For 1961, the Bel
Air's new body utilized squared-off design, a sweeping roofline and
unique trim to distinguish itself from Chevrolet's working-class
Biscayne and top tier Impala. And with its glossy paint, graceful
greenhouse and super low stance, this bubbletop brings new meaning
to the word 'style'.
Gaze under the hood and you'll find a storied 409ci dual quad V8!
Just as it should be! The big block is a pump gas torque monster
that's just as comfortable cruising country roads as it is lining
up at stoplights. At the top of the big mill, dual 4bbl carbs
funnel fuel through Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads equipped with
full hydraulic roller valvetrain, and dressed with polished valve
covers. High performance headers funnel spent gases into, true-dual
exhaust pipes. Up front a beefy Madison heavy duty aluminum
radiator keeps everything running cool. Like framing for a museum
grade masterpiece, the engine compartment has also been finished to
a show winning level. The fire wall smoothed, inner fenders
smoothed and lengthened, and the body mounts redesigned for a sleek
look.
Park this Bel Air Bubble Top on a lift and you'll find a fully
sorted display worthy undercarriage. Slick floor pans finished in
satin black, give a clean back drop the revolutionary X-frame
refinished in gloss black. Behind the 409, a Tremec 5-speed spins a
Ford 9-inch rear end that's fitted with sporty, 3.70 gears. Under
that rock-solid drivetrain, a completely modernized Scotts front
suspension is equipped with power rack and pinion steering, coil
over shocks and Wilwood disc brakes. The rear suspension upgraded
with 4 link suspension from Global West. Highly polished 18- and
20-inch Billet Specialties wheels spin Michelin Pilot Sport
tires.
Open the doors and the style continues with a fully customized
interior. A highly polished and padded dash hangs Dakota Digital
gauges and a/c controls ahead of luxurious Chrysler 300 bucket
seats covered in tan leather with accenting red stitching. Below
those seats, Cognac carpet frames a custom center console and
billet shifter. At the sides custom door panels mirror the custom
headliner design splashing unequalled style everywhere you look. In
front of the driver, a polished steering wheel spins a leather rim
around a tilting steering column. And behind the passengers, a
matching custom upholstered trunk is worthy of its own display.
