For Sale: 1962 Lincoln Continental in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is a car that makes a statement! Very desirable 4 door convertible in the most desirable color- black! There were no other 4 door convertibles being produced and it's very unique that they open from a center pillar. Then of course the retractable convertible top is unique.

EXTERIOR: The body shows very well. Completely repainted black. The majority of the chrome was replated. The retractable convertible top was upgraded to black cloth, and it is functioning properly. It is sitting cool on a set 22 inch Cabo wheels with performance Kumho tires.

INTERIOR: Professionally reupholstered seats and door panels about 10 years ago. The chrome, woodgrain trim and instrument area is very clean There are some cracks in the dash pad, steering wheel is mint. Power seat is not functional.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The 430-300 hp motor was rebuilt by previous owner. Upgraded electric fan. It has power steering and brakes. Overall, it looks clean and proper.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The lid opens with the power top switch. The convertible stores in here and still leaves some trunk space. The convertible top system was completely rebuilt in 2009 including a heavy duty pump, 4 new rams, lines and solenoids.

UNDERSIDE: The suspension components were replaced, upgraded with air shocks in back. Steering was rebuilt with new links, tie rods, ball joints and bushings. Complete exhaust system with crossover pipe, new mufflers, and resonators. The brakes were replaced. Looking up at the motor and trans they are both very fresh, rebuilt by previous owner less than 3,000 miles ago. The floors have been repaired.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and fixed the fuel gauge and power door locks, adjusted top switches and replaced some window seals, the brake booster, mufflers and visors.

Full disclosure: The previous owner literally advertised this car as "fully restored in perfect condition". It's not perfect, it's a good example. Auction results report the 1962 Continental has sold on average for $81,290 and that includes hardtops. One very recently sold for $715,000! This is a very desirable, impressive car that is priced fair. Someone will love feeling like a Boss driving this Continental!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
