Vehicle Description
From 1962 through 1980 Triumph which was built by Standard and then
Leyland produced the Spitfire with generations that included Mark
I, II, III, IV and then the final years a 1500 model that was built
from 1974 through 1980 with a total of almost 100,000 over the
course of six years. Just like many two seat roadsters built in
England, a lot of them shared similar parts or chassis or engines
so finding parts for these cars now is relatively easy and
inexpensive. The 1500 CC engine put our a whopping 54 HP here in
the US due to emissions restrictions. 0-60 times were in the
mid-teens....Either way, these cars now make it a very affordable
way to get in to the collector car hobby and the support of English
car clubs is immense. They are relatively easy to work on yourself
as well. This particular car comes out of long term ownership with
the 37,000 miles on the clock believed to be original as this
information was also relayed to the current owner almost 25 years
ago from the original owner. This car appears to be 100% original
from paint to interior. It starts, runs, drives, shifts and brakes
as it should, the lights and gauges also seem to be in working
order. This Spitfire comes with owners manual, two keys, tonneau
cover, soft top, boot cover and tools. The underside has looks
about what I would expect of a 50 year old English car. We
encourage any inspections or questions.
