Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this 2002 Chevrolet Camaro
Z28 SLP 35th Anniversary Edition! The Chevrolet Camaro SS was a
high-performance variant of the Fourth Generation Camaro introduced
for the 1996 model year. When the 4th Gen Camaro made it's debut in
1993, the Z28 was available for upgrade with those seeking more
punch in performance. Starting in 1996, Street Legal Performance
(SLP) teamed up with Chevrolet to develop the new SS. This new
performance package started with a base Z28 Package, which was
delivered to SLP where they made slight exhaust modifications and
upped the horsepower from 275 to 310 hp. The SS also included a
functional stinger hood scoop, and a duck tail rear spoiler. A
small window of 1996 cars may wear both Z/28 and SS badging but
ultimately the Z28 call outs were removed, and SS badges and center
caps solely adorned the car. For the 1998 model year the Camaro got
a facelift, and better yet the LS1 block was now the standard V8
with 305 Horsepower in the Z28, has a factory manual transmission.
and with the SS option, performance started at 320 Horsepower. With
some more SLP options it was possible to achieve 345 HP for 2002.
Production of the 4th Gen Camaro SS ended in 2002, when Chevrolet
debuted the Fifth Generation Chevrolet Camaro. Options in this 2002
Z28 SLP Camaro include - A/C, AM/FM Radio, Cassette Tape and CD
Player, Anti-Lock Brakes, Automatic Convertible Top, Cruise
Control, Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power
Locks, Power Windows, Power Seats, Seat Belts, Tilt Wheel, Traction
Control and much more!
