Ford decided to create a 'hybrid' pick-up back in 1957. They took a
Fairlane 500 sedan, beefed up the suspension, created a
pickup-style cab and added a bed. The Ford Ranchero was born. Jump
ahead seventeen years and you have this classic 1974 model. This
Ford Ranchero was designed around the Torino sedan, a mid-size
offering in '74. It was somewhat smaller than the older Fairlane,
but leaner and quicker. This '74 Ranchero has been the beneficiary
of a careful restoration. The body was refinished in Tuxedo Black
and all chrome and stainless is in good condition. There is a
sprayed bedliner and factory 'Magnum 500' alloy wheels that mount
Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS radials finish the exterior package. The
interior was completely refreshed. Bucket seats have black vinyl
upholstery and the 'turned dash' holds a full complement of
analogue gauges including a tachometer. The Ranchero is equipped
with Vintage Air, tinted power windows, custom tilt wheel, center
console and AM/FM/Cassette with a multi-disc CD-changer sound
system (CD may need TLC). The Ranchero was originally equipped with
a Ford 400ci V8 (S-code) motor, but is now said to be powered by a
351ci Cleveland that has been rebuilt. It is equipped with an
Edelbrock intake/4V carburetor, mild cam, electronic ignition,
serpentine belt system and electric cooling fans. The engine is
backed by a 3-speed C6 automatic trans w/Hurst shifter and factory
differential with street gearing. The Ranchero is equipped with
power steering and power disc/drum brakes w/new master/booster.
This Ranchero appears to have led a very good life and is waiting
for a new owner to continue the saga. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS
IS".
