The Honda Integra Type R, particularly the DB8 model, holds a
special place in automotive history as a symbol of Japanese
engineering excellence and driving purity. Introduced in 1995, the
Integra Type R was Honda's foray into creating a
performance-focused version of the already popular Integra. This
car was designed with a simple yet ambitious goal: to be the
ultimate front-wheel-drive sports car.
This 1995 Honda Integra Type R is one of approximately 292 sedans
(DB8) produced exclusively for the Japanese market in its inaugural
model year. The Integra Type R DB8 has the honor of being the first
four-door Honda to bear the Type R badge. The 1.8-liter B18C DOHC
inline-four features VTEC variable valve timing and with a higher
compression ratio of 11:1 and a high redline at 8,800 rpm. It was
factory rated to produce 197 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 131 lb-ft
of torque at 7,200, exclusively for the Japanese market. Power is
sent to the front wheels through a five-speed close-ratio manual
transaxle and a factory limited-slip differential.
The car is finished in Championship White with the installation of
clear paint protection film over the front of the car noted to
cover the front bumper, hood, front fenders, and the A-pillars. The
body-colored 15 inch four-lug wheels were refinished by a previous
owner and feature matching replacement factory center caps with red
Honda logos. The right-hand drive cabin features Recaro front seats
trimmed in black microsuede and cloth with red stitching and a
matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets lined with Type
R-branded floor mats. The car was optioned without airbags and ABS,
and amenities include air conditioning, a Pioneer CD stereo, and
power windows. Features include a three-spoke leather-wrapped
factory MOMO steering wheel that frames instrumentation including a
10,000 rpm tachometer, a 180 km/h speedometer, and auxiliary gauges
for coolant temperature and fuel level. The consignor notes that it
features a timing belt and water pump replacement with fresh
coolant and new Yokohama tires. This rare example of four door
Japanese high performance is offered with 33,706 kilometers at the
time of cataloging.
