Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro
RS/SS powered by a fuel-injected 6.2 liter LS3 crate engine. This
resto-mod maintains a fairly stock and sedate appearance, but the
drivetrain is anything but. This car was restored about 10 years
ago under prior ownership as an RS/SS tribute; the body is straight
and solid and the paint has a few minor flaws from normal use but
presents to a good driver standard throughout. The present owner of
seven years has embarked upon a comprehensive (and expensive)
drivetrain overhaul including a new GM Performance 6.2 liter (376
cubic inch) LS3 crate engine, a 6L80E six-speed automatic
transmission, four-wheel disk brakes, RideTech suspension, Vintage
Air a/c and heat, and a great sound system.
The interior features original-style seats, door panels, dash,
steering wheel and headliner but has been upgraded with a full
suite of Dakota Digital gauges (these offer a classic look but with
modern functionality). The Vintage Air a/c system provides a more
integrated look (and works better to coordinate both heat, a/c and
defrost functions) than a separate under-dash unit. And the
RetroSound Hermosa stereo with amps and a 12-inch sub provides some
of the best sound quality in a classic car we've ever heard (this
system absolutely bumps). Power windows use the original window
cranks as up/down switches.
Under the hood is a screaming LS3 rated at 525 horsepower. Thanks
to modern engine management it provides turn-key driveability and
reliability; it breathes through Hedman headers and a three-inch
stainless exhaust with Borla mufflers (in addition to being very
fast, it sounds incredible). It's mated to an
electronically-controlled and programmable 6L80E six-speed
automatic transmission, and power is delivered to the rear wheels
via a Ford nine-inch rear end with 3.89 gears and limited slip.
Wilwood 12-inch disk brakes at all four corners provide excellent
stopping ability. RideTech complete coilover suspension offers
adjustable damping and adjustable ride height (so you can dial in
the suspension to your individual preference without having to
replace any components).
This '68 Camaro is a great-looking driver with a fully modernized
suspension and drivetrain (with fewer than 6,000 miles on the new
components). It's offered a far less than the built cost and is one
of the best values on the market if you're shopping for an
LS-powered Camaro. For more information about this 1968 Chevrolet
