Vehicle Description
2007 Ford Mustang GT Coupe
With the exception of modern Mini Coopers, there may be no other
car that lends itself to customization and personal touches than
late-model Ford Mustangs. Because the make has been around so long,
an endless list of aftermarket companies provide both cosmetic and
performance modifications that are essentially "plug and play" or
"snap on." More than 53,500 GT's were built in 2007 and there were,
(are), many ways to make your car stand out from the crowd.
For consignment, a true stand-out. A car that has seen and unseen
mods and just 14,880 title verified actual miles. A long list of
carefully calculated and nicely executed mods fill this car, yet it
retains an outward appearance that's not over the top and only
hints of what's been added.
Exterior
The standard Tungsten Gray Metallic has been added to the retro
louvers, front splitter, and ducktail spoiler...rendering a look
that is clean and a step up from the factory profile. Smoked
headlights flank a Bullitt grille and clear lenses on the marker
lights complete the monochromatic look up front. The Cervini cowl
induction hood lifts the lines of the car with subtle aggression.
In the back, smoked taillights and license plate cover create a
sanitary look with bits of contrasting chrome in the exhaust tips,
GT emblem, and license plate frame. Both front and back lights have
been converted to LED. Color-blending deep dish Bullitt wheels are
surrounded by staggered size tires which the consignor states
emulate the size of GT500 shoes. Our photographer is very good at
pointing out paint and body flaws...and we couldn't find any.
There's some clear coat degradation on a wheel...but beyond this,
it's a spectacular exterior.
Interior
Whoa! Didn't expect that! Your eyes relax as you gaze over the
flawless gray coverage of the exterior then...BAM! The Crimson
seats are a striking contrast and cause an immediate adrenaline
rush and desire to get in that space! Silver/gray on red is a
common option historically in the world of performance cars and it
works here as well. The factory bucket seats are red leather,
high-backed and fully adjustable. The rear seats are also Crimson
red and the leather is taut. Everything else looks factory original
here and as expected, is spotless. The center stack houses the
touch screen infotainment system and A/C controls. The fat shifter,
(automatic), is in the center console surrounded by molded plastic
and includes a storage bin and parking brake lever. Cupholders and
an armrest/storage bin complete the console. The low pile black
carpet is very nice, and the headliner looks factory fresh. There's
just enough red in the interior to cause heart palpitations but not
a heart attack. The rest is black and charcoal and is a very nice
space to occupy. The trunk is clean and contains the battery in a
black battery box.
Drivetrain
The 4.6 liter 3 valve V8 is original and looking clean and tidy in
the engine bay. Mods here include a JLT cold air induction unit, a
beefy engine strut brace and an 87 and 93 octane tunes by
Performance Evolution. All this funnels through a 5R55S 5-speed
automatic transmission back to an 8.8" 3.31 TraLoc rear. The power
disc brakes benefit from drilled and slotted rotors with pads, all
from Powerstop.
Undercarriage
All pretty clean under here. Suspension includes independent coil
up front and a 3 link and panhard bar in the rear the rest is
enhanced by Steeda Sportline springs, Steeda upper strut mounts,
and Whiteline adjustable panhard bar. Dual exhaust is intersected
by a Pypes midpipe and the sound is buffered by Flowmaster
mufflers. Some surface rust noted on the rear axle, A arms, and the
exhaust hangers and weld spots.
Drivability
With 300 horsepower under the hood, we happily saddled up to this
Mustang, turned the key, and started our easy ride around the test
loop. We don't have to "get into the gas" to feel the
more-than-adequate power of the GT, which tracked well, stopped
well, and handled turn-ins like a champ. This gray mare is low
mileage, pampered, lightly modified winner!
If you want a run-of-the-mill 2007 Mustang GT, the marketplace is
full of them. And they're good cars. But this one kicks it up a
notch with some modifications that improve the looks and
performance. With some help from Bullitt, Cervini, and GT500, it
has an aggressive profile without being over the top, suspension
tweaks that keep it planted, and an interior designed by Ford that
feels just right. It's a very nice GT that is show-worthy as it
sits!
