For Sale: 1990 Chevrolet Corvette in Columbus, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Cruisin Classics is proud to present this rare and stunning 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1! This first year ZR1 represents a collaborative effort of GM and Lotus to produce the world's fastest production car, which in prototype form was known as "King of the Hill". 1990 was the highest production year of the C4 ZR1 with just 3,032 cars produced. However, there were only 181 cars produced in beautiful Dark Red Metallic like the one that sits before us today. What makes this particular ZR1 even more desirable is the fact that it has only 2,792 actual miles on the odometer!

This Corvette looks breathtaking in its dark red factory paint that is still in very high driver condition with very few minimal imperfections. Dark tinted windows add to the sporty look and a black molding strip encircles the car at knee-height that ties in well with the dark windows. The front end of the car looks like a stock C4 with its iconic flip-up headlights and fender aero vents, but when you get to the rear of the car it becomes apparent that it's no ordinary C4. The ZR1 model has a wider rear end to accommodate larger rear tires, a convex rear fascia with squared-off taillights, dual chrome exhaust tips on each side, and a discreet ZR1 badge under the right side lights. This car comes with two targa tops, one that's body color and a second that's dark tinted glass, providing a variety of possible looks to choose from. The car has a great stance atop its staggered tires with Goodyear Eagle P275/40 ZR17s on the front and P315/35 ZR17s on the rear, all wrapped around stylish factory aluminum wheels.

Under the hood is the real star of the show - the ZR1-specific LT5 engine designed by GM and Lotus and built by Mercury Marine. The LT5 is an all-aluminum 5.7 liter 32 valve 4 overhead-cam V-8 that was rated at 375hp and 370 lb/ft of torque when new. This beast of a V-8 is mated to a specially designed ZF 6-speed manual transmission that will get you from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and run a 13.4-second quarter mile if used properly. The engine bay is impeccably clean and bone-stock, just as you'd expect of a car with under 3K miles. With all that power comes the need for substantial brakes, and the ZR1 has that covered. The 4-wheel power disc brakes feature an ABS system as well as oversized rotors with 12" in the rear and 13" up front. Road handling is excellent courtesy of the FX3 suspension system designed by Bilstein and Lotus. This system allows for 6 damping settings in each of 3 driving modes; touring, sport, and performance, resulting in an outstanding driving experience.

Open the driver's door to find an exceptionally clean black interior illuminated by working courtesy lights. The door panels look like new and feature power locks, windows, and mirrors. The black leather bucket seats are fully power-adjustable and in excellent condition. The only small demerit we found in the interior is the plastic surround for two of the power function buttons on the left side of the driver's seat is cracked (it does not affect the working of the controls and is extremely common due to the design and placement). Between the seats is a center console with an armrest/storage box (which contains a hatchback glass release and the Targa top tool), the Ride Control switch, seat controls, and the leather-wrapped shifter for the 6-speed. The crack-free dash is a very "driver-centric design" with an arch ahead of the driver where the gauges are located - reminiscent of the C2 dash. The speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge are digital while the tachometer, oil press., oil temp., water temp, and voltage gauges are all mechanical. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column which also has a stalk for cruise controls and the intermittent wipers. In the dash is a Delco Bose Gold Series stereo with AM/FM/CD/ and Cassette that sounds awesome. The climate controls work just as they should with hot heat, cold A/C, strong fan, and rear defrost. Also on the dash is a key that allows you to switch between "Normal" and 'Full" engine power. Other interior highlights include a tire pressure warning system, a trip computer, dual-lighted vanity mirrors, carpeted factory floormats, and a sizable rear cargo space. Also included with the car are the original owner's manual, some interior "hang tags" from when it was new, a cassette tape provided by GM that walks you through the features and functions of the car, and a clean CarFax that verifies the mileage.

It's been almost 30 years now since the last of the C4 ZR1s were produced and it's becoming increasingly difficult to find collectible low-mileage examples like this one - let alone in a low-production color! This car is sure to be a hit at any car show and will definitely be a shining star in someone's collection! Don't let the opportunity to own such a fine example pass you by!
