Vehicle Description
There are few cars on earth more instantly recognizable and beloved
than a black and gold, late '70s Firebird. Although Smokey and the
Bandit featured a Trans Am, which was a couple of years older than
this 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula, but this car shines like a
movie star nonetheless. With its 1977 front clip and shaker-style
hood, this car is a Formula spec that has bits of Trans Am embedded
in its DNA.
Pop the screaming chicken-adorned hood of this beastly nightmare,
and you'll find a small block Chevy V-8 that sports tall Pontiac
valve covers, a larger oil pan with fresh gaskets, a Brawler
four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and a set of Hooker
headers. That power is routed through a Muncie four-speed manual
transmission, out through a ten-bolt rear end, and onto a set of
fifteen-inch snowflake style wheels shod in P255/60R-15
rear/P235/60R-15 front Cooper tires. A dual-exhaust capped off with
a sweet-sounding Flowmaster exhaust announces this car's arrival
long before its menacing presence comes into view.
