The Riviera model was debuted as Buick's entry into the personal
luxury car market. Throughout its production, Buick produced 8
different generations of the Riviera. 1979 marked the first year
for the sixth generation of the very popular luxury car and with it
came a numbers of first's for the brand. 1979 was the first year
that the Riviera was built on a front wheel drive platform (making
it the first front wheel drive car to ever be produced by Buick)
and it was the first year that forced induction, in the form of a
turbocharger, was made available on the Buick Riviera. These
changes and added features to the Buick Riviera paid off for Buick,
as the Riviera S-Type was selected as Motortrend's Car of the Year
for 1979. This 1979 Buick Riviera S-Type is an excellent, collector
grade example of these great automobiles with just 8800 original
miles showing. This Riviera presents in overall excellent,
unrestored condition sporting its original Medium Blue Metallic
exterior paint. The Medium Blue exterior shines extremely well and
is in excellent condition. Complimenting the exterior is the
Riviera's factory chrome and stainless trim and factory wheels
fitted with their correct factory polished wire wheel covers
wrapped in Uniroyal tires. The Riviera's factory Blue cloth
interior is in excellent condition throughout. Powering this
beautiful Riviera S-Type is its correct 185HP turbocharged 3.8
liter V6 backed by its 3-speed automatic transmission. Both the
engine and transmission perform just as they should and pull this
Buick down the road with ease. This Buick Riviera S-Type is very
well equipped with factory options such as: bucket front seats with
center console, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, tilt
steering, air conditioning, automatic level control, power front
